I would really like to purchase your software, but unfortunately in my country it costs around $140. Are there any discounts available or another way to buy it at a lower price?
You may consider either the monthly or yearly subscription. Both are available at a lower price point compared to the Lifetime license.
I’m trying to avoid subscriptions, as software can usually be bought outright for about three times the annual subscription fee. Unfortunately, Infuse’s price is simply astronomical.
It’s 6x.
I’ve been paying the annual subscription for 7 years so perhaps I should’ve paid for lifetime. But my point is the lifetime price seems reasonable to me; this is an app I have use almost daily, my family uses it too, and we are likely to for years to come.
The lifetime version is probably the most expensive player on the market. I use the apps on my own there’s no one else in my family on my Apple account. I don’t even use them regularly; sometimes I won’t open certain apps for weeks.
That’s why I’d rather just pay once and not worry about it. I like knowing that in a year or two I can open the app and it’ll still work, instead of finding out I can’t use it because I forgot to renew a subscription.
And just as a fun fact in many countries the lifetime version costs $99, but here in my (poorer) country it’s $140.
Please note the cost of the full version of Plex. You’ll be surprised.
And I can assure you that infuse is the most feature-rich player on the Apple platform. Here’s an example of what infuse can do: Licensed Dolby/DTS audio decoders: With infuse, you can listen to high-quality audio tracks such as DTS HD MA, TrueHD, DTS-X, and more. Dolby Vision 8, Dolby Atmos EAC3.
Infuse uses the same Apple price tier for all countries, but there is some variance due to exchange rates and taxes.
For example, the price in the US does not include sales tax and Apple will add this on top of the purchase price (based on the actual sales tax rate of the billing address). Many other countries have VAT and this is included in the price shown on the App Store.
Plex is a bit different — you’re really paying for all the network and premium features like downloads, streaming outside your home, automatic transcoding, hardware acceleration, and syncing content to your devices. Plex Pass also gives you things like offline downloads, DVR and live TV support, mobile sync, parental controls, premium music features (like lyrics and loudness leveling), early access to new features, and better server management tools.
Here, though, you’re basically just getting a player.
I get the best video player. Plex doesn’t do a lot of what infuse does, specifically as a video player. As for synchronization and external access, infuse can do that too.
On Apple TV 4K, for example, Plex doesn’t work well with H256 (4K HDR/DV) files. This completely negates the purpose of using it. Not to mention the infuse features mentioned earlier, which Plex as a video player simply lacks.
It’s usually $99, and that’s what users normally pay. I live in Europe, and in most countries here it’s €99 including all taxes, which comes out to around $116. Unfortunately, where I live, for some reason, it’s 499 złoty, which is about $140.
Don’t forget you have to add the VAT. I think that’s 23%.
$99 and €99 are the final prices, VAT included.
In the US the user is also charged an additional sales tax dependent on their local tax rates so their cost is higher than $99.
A few of my friends have their accounts set to the US, and they pay exactly the price shown in the store.
Some states in the US have a 0% sales tax rate, so if their billing address in one of those states then yes the price shown on the App Store would be the final price. Most states will have a sales tax rate of 7-10% so the price will be higher. Countries like Poland have the VAT fees baked into the price shown on the App Store, so a large chunk of the amount collected by Apple goes to the government.
Overall, we put a lot of effort into developing Infuse and delivering new features on a regular basis. If you see value in what we do then we’d be very grateful for your support, whether that be a monthly, yearly, or lifetime license. ![]()
I have checked prices in several other countries, and in Poland your program is simply the most expensive, there is no higher price anywhere else. Could you at least consider aligning the price with what is offered in other European Union countries, such as Germany or France ?
Of course, I see the value in your program, which is why I am raising this issue.
Many users in Poland are very frustrated that we have to pay more than Americans, Germans, French, or Brits, and often, faced with these higher prices, we end up not purchasing.
This is just a different perspective but wanted to share. When I started paying for Infuse Pro in 2018 the lifetime price was much cheaper. I considered buying the lifetime but settled on the yearly subscription because I wanted to see what my usage would actually be before going all-in on lifetime. Agreeing with the comment above, I have used it almost daily since then. I am in a constant state of trimming down my subscriptions, especially churning on streaming services, however, there are a handful of subscriptions I benefit from enough that the price is justified in my mind.
Knowing that I am continuing to support ongoing development is why I have stayed with a yearly subscription since I originally went Pro. I feel like Infuse has a consistently good release cycle and I am happy to support them.
On the other side of things, I have friends using Infuse without Pro and the base features are enough for them.
James said earlier they use the same price tier in all countries. Which means Firecore receives roughly the same revenue from your 499 złoty as they do from the $99 US (and €99).
Your question really should be directed to Apple. They are the ones setting the price equivalent to US$99 in other countries.
