Everything seems to be playing back fine.
But in the case of a letterboxed movie, in big white letters at the top of the screen, I get " Initiating DVD Playback " Is there any way of getting rid of this??
What resolution is your AppleTV current set to? You can check the current setting in the Settings → Audio/Video → TV Resolution menu.
