Infuse visionOS public beta - updated 9/13/24

Are there plans on adding more aspect ratio options? More specifically, 2.20:1?

I just updated to Vision OS Beta 8. I noticed there is a new feature that allows you to watch videos on a 100-foot screen in a selected environment, Mount Hood seems to work pretty well, it’s a fixed screen and HDR displays properly. And it doesn’t require to code your own theater.
Initially, I thought that was only for Safari videos, but it’s been implemented in Disney+ and also Max.
I think this will be a great thing to incorporate in Infuse, usually, there is a limit to how much you can expand the screen manually, but this seems to extend that limit, and also you get reflections.
Here are two screen captures of the option to select the environment and how it looks.

I’m still having the random pauses during playback on the latest betas.

I’ve captured new diagnostics after it happened.

Our internal testing indicates this issue has been resolved in vision OS 2.

visionOS 2 is likely to be released within the next few weeks if you are not in the mood to run beta software.

Hoping immersive theater options are up high on the list of in progress features. They’ve become a requirement for me when consuming any kind of long format video in my Vision Pro.

I picked up from browsing various forums that 3D videos need to be encoded in MV-HEVC in order to work on Vision Pro. I have very superficial knowledge about all of this so would be interested to hear someone more knowledgable explain this to me in layman’s terms. From what I understood a lot of 3D content is currently encoded differently and that there’s no widely available encoder software for end users to convert these files to MV-HEVC?

Have ideas/options around 3D video support been shared as of now?

You can join the discussion here.

Playing UHD BD rips on MKV

Content seems low resolution when compared to competing apps (493S1)

Subtitles are too big, especially when cropping black bars, they get in the middle of the frame. We need a way to adjust the size.

Which version of visionOS? Is the video being played in a full size window or something smaller? There an Apple bug (which we’ve reported to them) that is affecting some HDR/DV videos played in smaller sized windows, and this affects other native apps such as Photos as well.

Regarding subtitles, are these embedded or external? Do you know the subtitle format?

Latest Vision OS 2 beta, windows size is default, if not bigger, I don’t make it smaller.
Subtitles are PGS embedded.

Thanks for the info.

If you’re able to upload a sample file you are seeing issues with it could be helpful.

It’s pretty much any uhd bd mkv rip. If you don’t compare it with other apps you wouldn’t notice. I can make a screen recording and upload with the comparison
