Infuse starts with missing content

Infuse keeps launching with dark text, I have Dark Mode on but this is really hard to read. Also last couple of versions I have no top row on the Home Screen and almost every time I open Infuse I see “Preparing Library”.

Diag Code is N8NXM

Is HDR on in your Apple TV OS settings?

Yes but this is a new thing with this beta. If I force quit it and open it again the text is back to normal.

ATV should be SDR and then match frame rate and content turned on. This will then switch to HDR automatically when HDR content is played.

Obviously still an issue with Beta that this is happening and was not preciously.

Thats interesting, I assumed the sensible thing would be to set it as high as the TV would go, but on reading it does seem the suggestion is to set it at SDR. I’ll give it a whirl for a week see if I notice anything different.

This seems to indicate your Apple TV is running low on storage space and may be pulling in an old backup from an earlier beta (or even 8.3.9).

  1. Open Infuse and navigate to Infuse > Settings > Sync > Cloud Backup
  2. Perform a manual backup
  3. Force-close Infuse
  4. Relaunch Infuse

It’s because AppleTV will tonemap everything SDR into HDR, and… it’s hard to describe, but colors are distorted and washed out, overly bright.
Most people have enough SDR content that it’s best to leave it processed that way and only switch to HDR as needed.

Unfortunately, for some reason, I have to have my Apple TV on Dolby Vision otherwise DV content would play back (it plays back in HDR but not DV)
My old tv I had it set to SDR and match content and it worked. Quirk of the tv perhaps.

HDR10 like SDR can be played through AppleTV in DV mode. You are probably just getting HDR compatibility fallback pushed through DV mode.

James, you were spot on no idea what was taking up the space as I have the 128Gb ATV and even after deleting every app off it there was 100Gb still in use. Is there any way Infuse can tell the user that the ATV is low on space? I could have then done something about it instead of it just acting weird.

Also, what use is the iCloud Backup or what does it save? before I wiped the ATV I deleted infuse, re-installed App Store version, set it up and did a fresh backup. I then wiped the ATV, re-installed Infuse and tried to restore the backup.

Nothing came back, No favourites, no art work, no connections to my Plex, no trackt login, nothing so I had to set it all back up again. This has always been my experience when re-installing Infuse.

These two guides have more info on using these iCloud Sync and Cloud Backup features.
