Infuse Pro7 - is Plex required?

Can I use infuse to access my rips without Plex, or do they need to be used as a pair. If it’s possible to use infuse without Plex are there any drawbacks.

The cataloger, interface and principle of the application device at infuse is much simpler and better than at Plex. If you do not need to use one media library on a number of devices (tablet, TV, computer, phone, TV in the country, etc.), then you do not need to use Plex at all.

No, you don’t need Plex for Infuse.
I don’t have Plex either.
I just have all my files on my local NAS, Infuse scans those files, fetches the metadata and plays all files.

When I access my rips I just go to infuse, so I am probably already bypassing Plex anyway correct?

No. While Plex Server is deployed on your network storage, working with files will be built according to its script. And infuse will only be used as a player. To make everything as simple, reliable and convenient as possible - Plex Server needs to be removed. In this case, the scripts from infuse will come into operation.

Okay, so I remove Plex from my ATV will there be any issues with Plex on my Roku units throughout the network.

I use infuse on my Apple devices and plex on my pc devices, all drawing media from the same nas drives. Works great for me. Don’t have Roku.

No. Just removing Plex on the ATV will do just that. As long as the Plex server is running on your computer or Nas, your Roku units with Plex installed will find the server and run as before.

Thanks I really didn’t want to remove Plex completely. Since it’s on the server I thought I would have to do that.

As the others have said, you can run both and separately without a problem. You can see what’s needed to set up Infuse without plex here if you haven’t already seen it.

I’ve been happy with just Infuse connected to a server for years now without issues. I like it mainly because I don’t have to run two different programs for a great experience.

As other have said - you can run Infuse without Plex.

And even with Plex elsewhere on your network you can point Infuse directly at your content and Infuse will work.

But, if you want to keep your watched state in Infuse in sync with watched state on Plex (e.g. if you watch a TV series sometimes in Infuse and sometimes in Plex on other devices) - then you should point Infuse at your Plex library instead of directly at the video content.
