Infuse Pro - ATV4K - Macroblocking issue in dark scenes after 1-2 minutes

Hello there,

weird issue here:

I was watching Dune 2021 in HDR10 yesterday and saw some strange thing in terms of macroblocking in dark scenes on my LG OLED C9 starting to show up after 1-2 minutes playtime. There is also macroblocking while watching the Dolby Vision version.

I’m using Infuse Pro 7.2.1 (3874) and ATV4K (tvOS 15, 19J346). If I restart the app completely and jump to dark scenes (like at 21:10min) there is no macroblocking visible. Then while watching 1-2min more I see when this macroblocking issue shows up out of sudden. If I jump back to 21:10 I can see ugly macroblocking, a harsh transition from black to dark greys, especially on cloths in dark scenes.

This is NOT happening when I use the PLEX app on my ATV4K, or when I use the internal PLEX app from the TV, or when I watch it directly from an USB stick. So this must be an issue of Infuse.

I also noticed some heavy flickering like two times last week while watching “The Arrival”, in the Helicopter scene starting from 16min. I wasn’t able to replicate this though.

Anyway, there is something going with Infuse here I think. I never had an issue with Infuse before that. Feels very new.

Can you check to ensure both Match Content options are enabled on your Apple TV?

These are disabled by default, and can become disabled at times when installing tvOS updates.

Thx for the reply. I found the issue. It is the Apple TV itself. Same behaviour on a different TV and also issues with the Plex App (sometimes steady and heavy flashing/flickering in dark scenes when I start the app). NO issues on the new Apple TV.
