Is it a smb protocol version issue? Because it seems to be poor performance of smb in ios. Updating library on Mac is much faster than updating on my iPhone.
Maybe Mac can multithread more connections than iOS can. 
Or maybe Mac already gathers more of the data in the background (spotlight, etc) so system updates speed up infuse updates?
