Infuse Free Version BluRay mkv/mp4 capability

I am trying out Infuse on an AppleTV 4K. I’m using an SMB share on a wired-ethernet mounted hard disk.

I have the bluray as an mkv file and have stripped out the first 15 seconds for test as I’ve had no luck getting the free version to play back and converting the entire movie takes too long to iterate. I have also stripped out all DTS and have retained only one AC-3 audio track. I have also tried converting to mp4 using ffmpeg. All are prompting for the pro version.

I’d like to understand why the free version cannot play back the files below, specifically what formats are being used that Infuse Free won’t read.

Currently, videos with Dolby or DTS audio will require Pro.

You can convert the audio to AAC and you should be able to play the files in the free version

We understand these audio formats require codecs that have costs.
I happily pay for Infuse because it’s so good, and the codec handling is sooo good.

It would be a FANTASTIC boon to the free version to request server to downmix them to a free compatible format. Swiftfin and Plex are rough. Could get more people exposed to the the app if it ‘just works’

I’ve been able to convert the files using the command below. It takes the first video stream without re-encoding and the first audio stream (DTS), converting the DTS to AAC at 224kb/sec, and stripping the subtitle tracks.

ffmpeg -hide_banner -i “input.mkv” -map 0:v:0 -c:v copy -map 0:a:0 -c:a aac -b:a 224k -ac 2 -map_chapters 0 “output.mkv”
