Infuse connection issue when using WireGuard VPN

I can successfully access my NAS from anywhere using Infuse via FTP and WebDAV. However, since some hotels block these ports, I want to switch my connection method to VPN.
I have set up a WireGuard VPN server on my router, and the tunnel itself works perfectly — I can ping all local network devices and access them through the browser without any issues.
The only problem is Infuse: it constantly shows the error “Connection to server failed.” Neither the direct IP address nor the hostname works when connected through the VPN.
What could be causing this problem? Is there any configuration I might have missed on my router, VPN server, or NAS that prevents Infuse from connecting properly over VPN?

I had a similar issue that I tracked down to a local firewall on my NAS. The relevant protocols were limited to the local LAN, but it did not detect the separate subnet for my Wireguard clients as such. After allowing that subnet explicitly, everything works smoothly.

Thank you for your response. I had already adjusted the firewall rule earlier, and since then I’ve been able to ping the NAS. I’m using a QNAP NAS, and with QNAP’s tools I can connect to it through various ports. I can also access it via the web browser without any issues. The only connection that doesn’t work is through the Infuse app.

Update 20 minutes later

I’ve found the problem. It was caused by the reverse proxy I’m running on the NAS. I had to disable it, and now everything works. I’ll have to check with QNAP to find out why this reverse proxy is blocking the Infuse app.
