Infuse “an error occurred” AppleTV

Problem: when my Internet service is down, infuse on Apple TV reports “an error occurred”. It’s only happens with the Apple TVs, not with the infuse installation on my Mac. The files and Jellyfin server remain available throughout the network for any other device or app.
Description:

  1. The computer hosting the Jellyfin server still has the correct local address. All other devices on the network can access it either directly. The local network remains functional. I just don’t have access to the Internet outside of the house. The drives containing the media are accessible throughout the network as well, they are windows shares.
  2. On my Apple TVs. Infuse reports “ an error occurred” when attempting playback or trying to access the Jellyfin server. It provides no further information.
  3. I can access a Jellyfin server, through the JF app, but not through infuse on the Apple TVs. I can’t see the server through the infuse app either.
  4. On my Mac (and iOS) on the same local network, infuse continues to work perfectly, with the same configuration as the Apple TVs (when there is Internet service they sync through iCloud). If I play content on the Jellyfin app on the Apple TV, it even sync playback correctly to infuse on the Mac with no issues.

Is there a configuration or setting on infuse on Apple TV so that it can work even when there is no Internet service ? I am 99% sure, it used to work fine before, but I’m not sure if something changed on the newer builds.

Same issue here.

Never thought to test this until now.

I had issues with a different piece of software for this exact reason.

I hope this is a limited issue

This is an issue I’m encountering as well on my local network. Jellyfin works fine on browser and is detected by Infuse, but when I go to add it as a share or interact with it I get a generic “an error occurred” message

ETA: Looks like the recommendation is to upgrade Jellyfin if your server is not either 10.9 or 10.10

Just upgraded Jellyfin from 10.8 to 10.10 and this issue is resolved for me

I fixed this issue by upgrading the Jellyfin server to the latest version.

I ended up having to update the server version of Jellyfin. It did fix the issue, at least, it appears to work fine. However, I still do not know why it worked through the other devices and not on the appleTV.

So my recommendation would be to go directly to the JellyFin website, download the lastest Server version (mine got up to 10.10.7) and update it. It did fix a few of those randim errors. I wish Infuse would at least notify you of that requirement when the error pops up!
