Yes that is the traditional knowledge with other applications and operating systems, but you cannot do that with Apple TV
Ok. So when you said:
In order to fix this problem Iāve had to drop my resolution from 4K to 1080P which is disgusting because Over 600 films in my library are 4K resolution and now I donāt get to use that Option,
All your 4K videos can still play in 4K. Go to Settings > Video and Audio > Match Content and turn on both dynamic range and frame rate. This way you can have the UI in 1080p (zoomed in as you put it), and playback will match the source video e.g. 4K. Win, win.
but you cannot do that with Apple TV
Settings > Apps > Automatically Update Apps > Off
Sounds like most of your issues are user setup vs actual issues.
I shouldnāt have to make the entire Apple TV menu system run in 1080P in order to fix a problem that wasnāt a problem before by the way hereās your pictures the smaller artwork is new v8, The other is the previous version:
Both of these Apple TVs are running the same resolution of 4K and are on the latest version of TVOS, The only thing difference between the two of them is I did not update the larger thumbnail one, as it has been off-line. This is a 55 inch TV, So if you donāt have a 55 inch TV you might not notice a significant difference, it didnāt look bad on my sonās 42 inch TV.
The smaller thumbnails can fit 7 1/3 versus 6 1/4 on screen at once, This is a 55 inch TV, So if you donāt have a 55 inch TV you might not notice a significant difference, it didnāt look bad on my sonās 42 inch TV.
Update didnāt make any difference to me personally. Except the previously perfectly usable playback settings box is at the bottom instead of the top now and slightly more annoying to use. The app was already ok UI wise.
Iāll stick to the previous details view as well. It was already clean and unique the way it was. The new version just makes it look like any other generic movie library app.
Iām really curious how hard it would be to implement extras and local trailers. To me it seems like a no-brainer but if they are genuinely not capable of doing it Iād like them to at least tell us.
I can see pros and cons to both. Ideally thumbnail size would be an option in the settings.
Just a question. When you click on a movie from the list below the current movies details it just plays the movie straight away. I donāt see the point of this. Is this a new feature or a bug? Can I get rid of this list?
Well sorry but we are not beta tester. Here things which worked perfectly before, arenāt anymore (little things but for exemple the new UI lacks on several ways like to have to swipe more time to get to the episodes lists, not being able to mark a whole specific season as watched/unwatched, same for episodes, new playback bar is usable yes but now too crowded as I donāt see the needs to show constantly under the bar, audio, subtitles and so on forever, just makes things crowded, etc, etc.). Not many many things, and the whole is still working enoughly great. But itās a shame this days, people paying for software are being treated as beta testerā¦
1$, 10$, 100$ or more, itās not the question. Itās more that we just pay some dollars for something which worked and now we have to wait to get it work like before. User experience is not great that wayā¦
But yeah no need to be so harsh, itās not garbage at all, thatās not true.
Iād like to take a step back and think about what Infuse 8 means for a second.
This is the first release of a native app for a new operating system. Thereās not a single playback feature missing from the implementation. Thatās quite an achievement ā the Infuse team deserves significant credit for that.
Whatās more, I donāt believe this is all about supporting Vision Pro. I think it was actually a wise decision, to implement visionOS support early in its lifetime. visionOS is very likely here to stay. And to deliver that integration with zero additional cost to me, whatās not to like?
UI designs will always inspire differing opinions. Weāre only human, and conversation and challenge are both productive agents of change. But I think these advances in Infuse 8 will help make it an app thatās here to stay. And for the grand sum of Ā£9 a year, Iām very happy with that.
hey James what about Error when streaming
Wow, hardly any difference. You said it was unusable, garbage, ugly etc. all for 1 extra icon on the home screen? Come on now.
Poor devs donāt deserve that.
I shouldnāt have to make the entire Apple TV menu system run in 1080P
Can you show what it looks like with 1080p enabled? I tried it on mine and the Infuse UI stayed the same size (as I kind of expected).
On my ~60" TV itās smaller now. A bit less swipe left/right due to maximizing the taken space in home menu but in opposite the thumbs are just just visible. I donāt know which way I prefer as I canāt compare now. But I had a feeling it was nicer before but hummm I can live with that.
But itās not currently, and people with large format TVs like myself got screwed because it looks worse than voodoo or some of the other half cocked software that you donāt pay so much for and now Itās almost unusable on those TVs for us
No itās not, The previous version worked just fine on TvOS 18 even after they updated it for that very reason, this is a palpable release meant to pacify promises that they gave of a revolutionary new version that they could not deliver and they gave us this half cocked update so they can keep said promise, they should have just pushed off the release and said listen I know we promised this but in order to give you The great product that you deserve we need more time, because they did not deliver what they said they were going to and what they did deliver feels like itās an unpolished turd and ruined what was even previously there that worked very well, yes I have the right to complain I paid full price for this app, Iām not a subscriber, and if you love something you should complain about it
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, everyone!
Weāve been working through some of the feedback which has come in over the past few days, and will have a series of updates which include improvements and fixes available soon. The first of which is 8.0.1 which will likely be available early next week.
You can follow this thread to get some insight into the items we are currently working on.
But itās not currently, and people with large format TVs like myself got screwed because it looks worse than voodoo or some of the other half cocked software that you donāt pay so much for and now Itās almost unusable on those TVs for us
Please stop. Itās not voodoo. Itās not unusable. Itās one extra cover on the home screen (6 previous, 7 now).
On my 65" TV I donāt mind the change. Maybe even prefer the added info density.
Here are the before and after pics you provided, your words donāt align with reality.
Old
New
Also, I did some more testing on the library scans and whatever magic youāve done for v8 is impressive. My Jellyfin server syncs a lot faster than previously. Also really enjoying the quick access subtitles on the new now playing UI. Thanks.
You absolutely have the right to complain and I, for one, am glad that you have a platform on which to do so, itās most illuminating.
From my own personal point of view, though, I find it very difficult to label Infuse 8 - in fact, in my experience, any version of Infuse, past or present - an āunpolished turdā.
Infuse shines above the competition and, I believe, has a strong future. If any members of the dev team are reading this thread, please know that what youāre creating does not, in my humble opinion, resemble any kind of poo.
Itās unacceptable to tell a paying customer to āstop complainingā about a legitimate issue. This is a significant problemāitās not ājust one cover.ā On large-format TVs, especially when sitting 10-20 feet away, the artwork becomes difficult to see because adding ājust one coverā has shrunk the entire set. If the artwork is unclear, like in the case of Bridge to Terabithia, it becomes unreadable. Now, I have to audit over 1,500 movies and search for suitable replacements.
Being told to āstop complainingā is frustrating. This release was clearly rushed and incomplete, and rather than postponing the launch, theyāre minimizing customer concerns. Iāve never encountered this with Kodi, and Iām seriously considering switching back. I donāt just want a refund because of the technical issues with Infuse; itās their attitude and treatment of customers thatās really disappointing.
The way theyāre addressing these concerns reflects poorly on their customer service and speaks volumes about how this app is being maintained. This is our only source of TV and movies, and weāve designed our entire entertainment system around Infuse. Thatās why this is such a big issue for me and my family.
I am very thankful for the latest update. It has solved the problem of finding translations for the movies that I play through an IPTV application. All I have to do is run the movie and exit from it to the main interface of the application and edit the metdata information, and in this way I find all the translations.
