Infuse 8 - Now Available šŸš€

And when you press pause, the entire panel remains on the display. Before, it disappeared after a few seconds. It was simple and elegant before, but now it’s ugly.
They removed everything that was good!
I don’t think I will renew the Pro subscription anymore.

Many thanks to you and the team! I will try it out tonight!

I agree with this remark. However, this distance should also be reduced in the movie layout. If you reduce it, then the photos of the actors will fit without cropping. Or, move these photos down so that they are not visible. As it is in the modern layout.

Nice work with the revised Detail View. The playback skip is messed up though. Skips 12 mins and 5 mins when it should skip 10s forward and 5s backwards on my apple tv

Half of the screen is an exaggeration but I agree, it should not behave like that.

The ā€˜New’ details layout is an improvement but really is spoiled by being able to see the top of the cast and crew images at the bottom. It’s a distraction and ruins the poster view.

Main screen not displaying correctly. On 7.8.3 my two favorites were displayed in the center of the screen with a large Infuse icon in the background. Now with ver 8, I get this. Definitely not what I call ā€œProā€ worthy. So far I can’t find anyway to correct it. Can we please get the esthetics right on the opening screen for the supposedly new and improved Ver 8?

Using SMB to my NAS to access a large moving and TV show collection. Functionally I see little difference which for the family is a good thing. Can’t decide on the New vs Modern layout, but regardless everything else seems to be working as before.

IMO the I’s & T’s were not addressed prior to rolling out ver 8 in regards to the opening screen.

I actually like this bare clean look. All black background vs that orange Infuse logo background.
Though, if u do not have alot of buttons/library folder to show, it sure does look very tacky.
Need a way to set what position to have those buttons, top, bottom, etc.

Yup, it definitely went very tacky…shades of 2000

Did you check the chapter control is off in settings (just in case it got switched) and that you still have 10 sec and 5 sec set in the skip time?

That was it. Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Visual changes for the home screen didn’t make it into 8.0, but there are some things cooking here.

Unfortunately, Apple has limitations on where settings like this can be shown, but you can use Siri to enable/disable while using Infuse.

An option for this will be available shortly.

The views available on the Home Screen will depend on which mode you are using to connect. With Library Mode disabled, you can pin the lists available under the Plex server, but the normal Infuse library categories will be empty (and will be hidden from the Home Screen if enabled). More info on the differences between Direct Mode and Library Mode can be found here.

Apple TV has a clock built in which can be shown by holding the ā€˜TV’ button. Does this help?

On most platforms the version is listed at the bottom of Infuse > Settings. If you’re on Mac you can select the ā€˜About Infuse’ option from the menubar.

To help speed things up here you may try disabling the Smart Folders feature. This can make a big difference when browsing folders directly (and not through the library).

This is something which could be added in a future release. You can follow this thread for updates.

This wasn’t a focus area for 8.0, but you can follow this thread for updates.

There’s a suggestion thread you can follow for updates on this item.

This is currently available for movies, and sample files which include examples of the supported fields can be found in this guide.

Series support may be added in the future and you can follow this thread for updates.

Which artwork are you referring to? This is on Apple TV, correct?

If this is a local folder on iOS you may try removing and re-adding it in Infuse. We’ve seen some quirks in this area when upgrading between devices as the folder IDs do change, and Infuse doesn’t have a way to smoothly transition to the new one.

This is on our wishlist.

The New layout on Apple TV is default for new installs, but upgrading users will keep their existing preference.

In progress…

This isn’t part of 8.0 but is still on our wishlist.

There are a ton of under-the-hood changes with regard to the home screen in 8.0, and visual changes are to follow. Infuse has always been about iterative updates and constant forward progress.

The new playback overlay is similar to Apple’s native player in the TV app.

Both are available in 8.0 so you can pick the one you like. :slightly_smiling_face:

This is something we will be adjusting.

You may check to see if the ā€˜Chapter Controls’ option is enabled in Infuse > Settings > Playback. With this on the edge taps will skip between chapters instead of the 10s time skips.

Will look into this to see what may be going on.

Just to confirm, you have favorites only? No lists or Up Next list?

That must be a long file name.

Love to see some of what the visual changes will look like. Really excited for this as this is my go to player across my devices and want it to remain so

i would prefer the firecore team to do a playback improvement rather than doing the visual improvement.

It’s not there, they lied to us, I’m irritated that I spent $100 on this program, I mean keep it the way it was but don’t lie to me and tell me that you’re giving me new features and a completely revamped design and then don’t do it, Instead just make the icon smaller so people think they’re getting something now the interface looks terrible on a large format TV anything above 42 inches looks like garbage on this app now, looking elsewhere to find a better application wish I could get my money back

Yea… like seek/buffering times. It takes 5-6 secs to seek 10 sec on large GB 4K files. CDVR seeking/skipping is instant. I know SMB connection has more overhead, but i feel, past versions of Infuse did not have such sluggish performance. Even when i used Plex connection, its performance was lacking. (have since dropped Plex entirely)

I also very much would like to see actual picture controls, Contrast, brightness, Saturation, Sharpness. Some players on a PC or Mac even have this (VLC or MPV), and that would be beast for me, if i could set Infuse to Sharpen things a tad, as i find my TV does not get sharp enough…etc. I think Infuse uses their own custom player, not the native Apple TV player, so, in theory, they could ad user picture processing controls.

EDIT: just to be clear, my dislike of the new 8.0 changes, are exclusive to the Apple TV version, which is my primary platform for playing media. The iOS version, i have no issues with the changes. (however, i rarely use Infuse or any other player on a mobile device)

yeah thats what i am talking about…
there is a lag when u fast forward/backward on large 4k file or video files with DDP5.1 and dolby atmos 5.1

There’s nothing forward about this Program, you’ve gone back this is the first time I’ve seen an update with this application caused so much decent, we need A rollback, They need to roll back to the last version and fix problems, the Thumbnail images for the movies and TV shows being smaller is a dealbreaker it looks like garbage and it’s completely unusable on large format TVs now

Thank you for the update. I generally like it, minus a few minor bugs which I already saw mentioned.

But there’s one thing, that I don’t like at all (Apple TV) - it would be a real dealbreaker for me, if there was another real option:
The player controls / pause menu (audio, subtitles, etc.) and their placement.
I know what I am watching, no need for a big title of the movie / show name, which, with the rest, uses up 1/3 of the screen, nor which episode it is - if i really wanted to know, a simple swipe-down sufficed. Now the swipe-down results in the info, video, audio & subtitles blocking even more of the screen. The placement in the middle of the screen is also far from optimal and just wastes usable space. No way I’m using that without having to pause.
I’m sure there are users, who like the new player controls better. For me it’s total overkill and I liked the ā€œsplittedā€ / slim version much better. Is there a chance you’ll add a ā€œslim / legacy player controlsā€ to the options menu?
