Infuse 8 Coming This Fall (2024)

I’ve been using CoreELEC (a Kodi fork) on an Amlogic device for a long time, and it’s been working perfectly. However, I’ve been considering switching to Infuse on Apple TV for quite some time now. The smooth UI and ongoing support are major factors driving me to consider purchasing the lifetime subscription and finally making the jump.

Is there a tech specification comparison sheet available where I can compare various Kodi devices or forks, such as the Nvidia Shield, Vero 5 (OSMC), etc., against the latest Apple TV using Infuse 7 (or 8)? I’m aware of the limitation with uncompressed Dolby Atmos audio, which I’m okay with. What other technical aspects should I be aware of before making the switch?

Apple TV does not have Dolby Vision 7 support. It does not have BluRay/DVD menu support.
Otherwise, everything plays. The interface is clear and user-friendly. Just try it and draw your own conclusions

Is there a date for the release of Infuse 8 yet?
Can we expect a lot of new features for tvOS or will it be almost visionOS-oriented?

The fall is about as precise as it’s going to get is my guess.
Here’s what in the works

tvOS 18 is coming out on September 16th. It would be great if infuse 8.0 was also released on September 16th

Infuse 8 will be released after the 16th, though Infuse 7 works quite well on the new updates from Apple.

There is one issue we are working to resolve and will have an update for Infuse 7 available soon.

And Fall ends at the end of November so sometime between now and then?

Just a guess but I’d say in October.

The devs are too busy with Vision Pro. So, unfortunately, I think it will take a while.

Ha! They’re pulling the old ‘we’re too busy with Vision Pro dev’ trick again?!

Although they do have the added work of vision pro development, I don’t believe this statement was true. They are spending a lot of time on iOS and tvOS development.

Infuse 8 coming this fall

Well, Fall is here, where’s Infuse 8? LoL

As above.

Why not on Christmas 24th  would be the best Christmas present ever :joy:

A post was merged into an existing topic: Multi-users/profiles

The added work for 1% of their users, but there are multiple years long requests that don’t get a look and would be beneficial for a majority of users

I agree. There are requests that are years old that would actually be great for Infuse and its users but don’t even deserve a look from the devs. And yet they’re spending so much time with Vision Pro, which is a very niche product and is failing to sell. The only thing I ear about Infuse 8 is Vision Pro plus Vision Pro plus Vision Pro.
