Infuse 8 Coming This Fall (2024)

Potential Features for Infuse 8: Enhancing Subtitle Management

With Infuse 8 coming this fall, I have a couple of suggestions that could significantly improve the user experience, especially regarding subtitle management:

Current Process for External Subtitles on macOS:

  1. Drop the subtitles in the player.
  2. Click ‘okay’.
  3. Click the gear icon.
  4. Go to advanced settings.
  5. Scroll down to subtitles.
  6. Click subtitles.
  7. Scroll down to imported.
  8. Click imported.
  9. Select the added subtitles.

This process is quite cumbersome. To streamline it, I’ve suggested an improvement here: Automatically match/associate imported subtitles.

Integrating Cloud Storage for Subtitles:

To further enhance usability, it would be convenient if users could upload subtitles to a cloud service (e.g., iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive) and have Infuse read from there. This aligns with another suggestion: Sync/unify imported subtitles across devices. Such integration would allow seamless access to subtitles across different devices without manual transfers.

Direct Subtitle Uploads Within Infuse:

Alternatively, Infuse could allow direct subtitle uploads within the app. Adding an “Upload Subtitles” option when right-clicking a show’s poster would simplify the process without needing third party cloud integration.

These features could make Infuse 8 an even better video player/media center by enhancing subtitle management and syncing across devices.

Sorry for the long post.
