Infuse 8.4 - Extras, Intros, and Favorites

Really like the way Extras has been implemented. One anomaly for me…

I use a custom genre to group my favourite TV shows, and have this genre pinned as a caroselle on my home screen. When I go into a show via this route, the extras don’t appear. When I access the show through the normal TV Shows library, all the extras show up as expected. Would be great if they could show up regardless of how I navigate into the show. Thanks

I have lots of extras along side movies on my Plex server. Unfortunately, when I view those extras in Infuse, below “Cast and Crew”, they show up in triplicate. This is not an isolated case, every single extra I have shows up 3 times. Any idea what’s happening?

Can you send in a report from your device (and post the code here) and share a few images of what you’re seeing in Infuse and how things appear in Plex?

If you change the Extras folder to Season 0 or Season 0, Infuse reverts to the previous behavior and displays Extras on its own details page again.

Can you share an image showing how you have these files are organized and how they appear in Infuse? Are you using a media server like Emby, Jellyfin, or Plex?

one question regarding the intro skipping, i’ve setup Intro Skipper plugin on my Jellyfin, will Infuse prioritize markers received by Jellyfin or will it now only trust & use IntroDB and TheIntroDB? how does things work in this case?

I’ve the same question but for Plex: will Infuse use Plex then, if not found, it’s own intro/credits detection?

Yes, Infuse will give priority to markers that are present on the Emby, Jellyfin, or Plex server. If no markers are found for a particular item then it would use info from IntroDB.app/TheIntroDB.org

How do you ensure that the timestamps match the specific release? For example, HDTV, WEB-DL, and Blu-ray versions can have different timings.

There is no support for versions at this time, but this could be added to the databases at some point in the future.

I was curious how you handled extras for TV shows, since besides the “Specials” folder, you can have Series/Season/Episode extras. Bravo I wouldn’t mind them in a different order (like behind the scenes and deleted scenes ahead of other and interview).

There is a little work in progress to improve grouping, but I imagine there may be varying opinions on which extras are more important.

I tried playing Game of Thrones, but I’m not seeing the Skip Intro option on my end. Google Drive works for this?

It could be a specific episode does not have marker data where others do. It will work with all share types (including Google Drive) as long as you keep the ‘Metadata Fetching’ option enabled in Infuse.

Is this an Infuse library genre or a folder you’ve created? Browsing via folders may not have access to extras.

Custom artwork is broken in 8.4. All my shows’ posters and fanart have been overridden by the content from tmdb.

Ninja edit: I found the new “Prefer Local Artwork” toggle right before I nuked all the metadata. Don’t know if I’d agree that “off” should be the default, but toggling on immediately corrected the issue!

When using “Auto (Delay)”, a “Cancel Skip” button would be helpful, allowing the user to watch the intro if they prefer. I believe this may have been requested previously.

Glad you found it. Keeping this on should allow you to use these local artwork files.

You can cancel the auto skip by pressing Menu/Back (Apple TV) or by tapping outside of the skip button area (iPhone, iPad, Mac).

Is this all-or-nothing, that is, if the server gives any marker no external lookups will occur (e.g, “Intro” is given, “Credits” is not)? If so, that resolves most potential conflicts, though I do have a few items for which all skip markers have been deliberately removed that would be problematic.

Alternately, should I expect the lookups to fail gracefully if the two API’s are blocked on the network?

In any case, please consider an option to disable external skip lookups, without disabling the skip feature, so a media server can be used as the single source of truth.

Correct. If a title has any markers present Infuse would use those instead of fetching info from the online databases.

I don’t expect any issues if you want to block those sites on your network.

Apologies, turns out this was a Plex issue. When I checked the server again there were extras showing up triplicate there too. I refreshed Plex metadata and everything returned to normal, so all is well.

I can’t get the intro skipping to work with locally downloaded media in the iOS app, am I doing something wrong or is that intended?

It looks like ‘Extras’ is actually how the ‘Specials’ season is named in German on TMDB, so this is why it appears that way in Infuse.

Are these local extras you have on the server? Unfortunately, Plex Pass extras cannot be played outside of Plex and these will be hidden in the next update.

Is selected artwork from Favorites supposed to sync? I have artwork for Favorites defined on the Apple TV, but they do not appear on MacOS.

Favorite artwork is not currently synced, but this will likely be added in an upcoming version.

I submitted some timestamps to TheIntroDB, but I think for older, less popular series it will take a long time before anyone uploads the same timestamps for them and they get accepted.

Would it be possible to also allow manually adding timestamps in Infuse? For example, via a file in the series folder. This would let you add Skip Intro timestamps for missing shows and override TheIntroDB info if you’re in a region with different releases and the timestamps don’t match.
