Like I said in the original post I cannot use Trakt for all Apple ID accounts as they would mess up the Trakt historical data.
As a fix if nothing better is achieved, at least we should be able to login into Trakt but disable the option to record anything to Trakt on the secondary account.
The aspect ratio would not matter with regard to scaling.
There may be some confusion here. All apps do upscaling, but some do it better than others.
Without upscaling, playing a 480p video on a 4K TV would appear about the size of a post card in the center of the screen. There are different approaches for doing this, and the AI upscaling we have here is pretty advanced and works exceptionally well. You can certainly disable AI and Infuse would fall back to its previous upscaling method, which is also pretty good.
You can actually do this by disabling the ‘Scrobbler’ option which will appear after logging into the Trakt account.
As the option says, that only works for the scrobbling. I have tested to disable that but if something is marked as watched, it will be added to the trakt account of the main user. So if no better solution is achieved, can you please add this option?

Possibly related - it looks like there are 2 subscription tiers. I’m on the $9.99 annual and family sharing is enabled. If I switch to my kids Apple account, Infuse doesn’t see the Pro but it’s also priced at $12.99. If I view my subscription I can see all these options:
Do I need to switch to the other yearly sub to get profile sharing to work?
This is using the App Store installation, not Testflight, and I’ve also tried deleting the app and re-downloading it.
So happy to see this land as I can finally delete Plex and just use Infuse on our family Apple TVs!
Yeah, our family sharing is not working after this update too, users are not able to restore subscription and it seems to prompt users to resubscribe and pay , we also updated to the new yearly pro price from the master family account. Other than the family sharing glitch it looks very impressive.
So I know that there were people that were very excited about the HDR subtitle adjustment, but so far for me, it seems like it makes the subtitles harder to read. I know it depends on the device, brightness capability, and content being played.
Regardless, when I am watching HDR content on my iPhone at night with the brightness turned down, I can barely read the subtitles. It is too dark. Only when I turn my brightness up to 100% does it seem bright enough.
Secondly, I happened to come by a movie my kids were watching (Despicable Me) on the Apple TV and noticed that the subtitles (PGS) were very dim. It looks like the subtitles here were already gray to being with, so then this reduced brightness for HDR content made it even darker. I personally never had an issue with them being too bright for my screens. Can we have it changed back to previous settings? I checked this same title on my iPhone and same issue there as well

Reading all this for the first time, with my first coffee of the day, but if I’m reading correctly AI is ON by default. That alone offends me, just on principle. I do have the option to turn it off, but must do that every time I watch a movie. Most of my collection is older movies, way back to silent films, and I don’t want Chaplin’s Modern Times (and countless other films) upscaled with AI. I’ll try this new feature you have no doubt spent many hours implementing, but would respectfully ask for an option to turn it off completely in settings.
Think Tri-X film, think original vision of artists, even think original technology of the time, and the work created around/despite its limitations. One doesn’t “photoshop” da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, or alter the words in Homer’s Odyssey to make it sound “better”.
Sorry to go on like this, but before I went to bed last night I read the below article, one of many I have been reading lately concerning AI. No, I’m not a supporter of Ziz (she is a nutcase), nor a Rationalist, but the article highlights concerns about the future of what the author memorably said will “undergird our world”, namely AI.
Edit: So there IS an option in settings to totally disable AI Upscaling! I misread one of James’ comments about the ability to turn it off per film if it’s already on. Pardon the rant, and when I upgrade to the next iteration of Apple TV 4k I will be sure to try it out.
I get where you’re coming from, to a certain extent, but this “AI” upscaling already existed before in infuse and it’s something that every modern TV does by default unless you disable it. Unless you have the original film in pristine condition that you can project, you’ll have to rely on a digital representation of the original, which already is doing various things such as noise and artifact cleanup, color correction, timing, etc. to some, the methods and software use could be considered “AI“ upscaling, but it doesn’t mean it is attempting to be something other than original source or the directors intent. Obviously there are a lot of studios that mess up and over-DNR or mess up color, other things like that as they release blu-ray or 4K versions. Or worse, directors like George Lucas that completely redo the original.
Regardless, I think maybe “AI upscaling” is a bit of a misnomer. Although it might be using the software and hardware that other Apple intelligence features are using, it is applying more advanced models to make a sharpening filter. Something has to be done when you’re trying to play a 480i or 720P video on a 4K display. It is just trying to be more accurate than a basic pixel interpolation.
Based on my experience with this, I have not seen any issues, definitely less problems than my TV’s motion interpolation introducing artifacts, which I of course, shut off
Removes Guy Fawkes mask I realize it’s already in use on my Sony Bravia 4K, I am just concerned that I won’t like the new and improved "sharpened"result. My main gripe was having an option to turn it off, which of course does exist in the options, I misread one of James’ comments about the ability to turn it off per film if it’s already on. Your reply makes sense. The very low res stuff I have might benefit, I agree. I’ll have to wait till I upgrade to the next iteration of ATV 4K to find out, since mine is the first gen.
I guess the external ratings (e .g. Metacritics) are only visible when you use the NEW layout.
Same problem here. This morning, after the upgrade I keep having to switch back to my other Apple ID to use my Lifetime license. Before the upgrade, infuse always worked on both Apple IDs. What’s the fix?
And what should I do to use this new layout?
Enable that in the settings - see here:
