There have not been any changes with regard to how licenses work, but if you are using multiple profiles on the Apple TV you may need to check to ensure your Family Members are allowed to share your purchases.
Like Infuse, your LG would only apply upscaling if the video resolution is less than 4K. If the Apple TV output is set to 4K then that is what LG would see and would not apply any upscaling, even if you are playing a 360p video in Infuse.
Hi there,
Thanks for this great update and continue the amazing work!
In the version 8.2 on tvOS 26, when I switch users on my Apple TV, the Trakt account stays the same in Infuse. Have I not understood something?
Hi @james,
Nice update and I appreciate your (Firecore‘s) communication to the customers. Other developers could learn from you!
Now my question regarding the Metacritics: just checked it out, it seems that for my movie I now see Metacritics, but not in TV shows (episodes). Is that correct? Or is there something I can change?
Also Metacritics seems only be available when I use the NEW layout, not in modern, right?
I was already using family sharing everything was fine until they came up with this half cocked plan which I don’t want, I don’t want individual directories and options for every user in my house
Using the latest version 8.2 released today. So the situation is:
iPhone A - Main account purchased the Infuse Pro Lifetime and has purchase sharing enabled
iPhone B - Is a member of the family sharing of iPhone A and has purchase sharing enabled.
Apple TV - Shared by both members of iPhone A and B
Everyone can get Infuse Pro on their iPhones.
On Apple TV user B can only get Pro if user A logins with his trakt which then user B is going to add historical data to user’s A trakt account.
Any other solution? We bought Pro lifetime with the intent of using it with all users in family sharing on all devices.
Problem is it upscales 1080 and 4K, I don’t want this I want pure bit rate from my 1080 and my 4K the only thing that can be upscale is anything 720 or lower like DVD quality 480, and besides that the Apple TV and the 4K TV I have already upscale everything
I would like to thank you for implementing the ‘HDR subtitles brightness setting.’ This is amazing for me. I watch most of my content with subtitles, and this feature has brought a lot of visual comfort.
Yeah, the new HDR brightness option for subtitles is great.
Subtitle brightness for HDR content has always been a problem everywhere ever since I could remember. That’s why for every HDR movie and TV episode I put on my server, I developed the habit some years ago of creating external ‘.ass’ subtitle files with gray text (&H808080). It works very well.
Since I’ve been using this method for several years, I’ll probably keep using ‘.ass’ files, but it’s great that Infuse can adjust brightness directly now.
The guide linked above has some steps which can help resolve most App Store related issues.
This may be a bug related to the tvOS 26 beta. We’ll be working on tvOS 26 optimizations in the coming weeks.
Metacritic has ratings for both movies and TV shows, but some older or more obscure series may not have ratings present on Metacritic.
Previously, Infuse would display the App Store license and library info for the Apple TV’s ‘default’ user. If you are using a single Apple TV user then nothing will change for you and things will continue to work just as they did before.
If you have multiple users set up and you are actively switching between them then Infuse would present different libraries and be linked to that user’s App Store purchases. In this case, you would want to ensure Family Sharing is set up correctly or you can use Trakt to share purchases. This guide has some information on how best to do this.
The same servers can certainly be linked to each user, but they would need to be set up separately.
This may be an issue with how Family Sharing is setup or the Apple ID or App Store region the Apple TV is set to. This guide has a few hints which may help.
You can avoid upscaling for 1080p content in Infuse by setting the Apple TV video output to 1080p. If the Apple TV is set to output 4K then your TV is never going to perform any upscaling (even if you are playing 360p videos in Infuse) since it is already receiving a ‘4K’ image from the Apple TV.
Hi, I definitively think there is an issue with family sharing… I have checked everything on my side and pressing the restore button doesn’t do anything. Family sharing is correctly set up.
I followed the guide. All devices and users use the same region. Like I said, we need another solution. The accounts/email addresses in the Apple IDs of each family member should be able to use the Pro features if they are all using the same region. I do not have this issue with any other app other than Infuse.
I would appreciate if you can support in providing a solution for this. If you are available to do so I can provide further details of the accounts in private if that helps.
Hi james. I am experiencing issues with restoring a subscription as well. It didn’t work during the Testflight either, but I thought that was a quirk of tvOS and Testflight sandboxing, so I waited until the full release and reinstalled full production build from the Appstore instead. And it still happens.
My situation is:
User A - the icloud account that purchased the subscription and shares it in the family
User B - the icloud account that is in the same region / family as user A and uses the shared sub from user A
AppleTV - User B is the primary user in the settings while user A is secondary, that was added later on
When user B’s account is active and viewing Infuse, it correctly shows that the user has an active subscription (shared from user A). When I switch to the user A on apple TV, it doesn’t show pro status.
I tried clicking restore button, but it silently failed. Then I tried to click one of the purchase options and it failed with a native system banner saying that I already have a subscription. After confirming that, then Infuse’s banner popped up saying “Network error”.
I tried deleting the app and the user A account and adding it back in to apple tv but it did not have any effect.
@james What if the media is 4k but a different aspect ratio than the full 16:9, such as 2.35:1 ?
For example 2.35:1 movies are 3840x1634 which is less than the full 4k resolution of 3840x2160, but I certainly don’t want Infuse to be applying any kind of processing if the AI upscale feature is enabled.
I feel like AI Upscaling should be opt in, not opt out. I don’t want it so had to go into the settings to disable it, that’s because I know it’s in the update but people not reading the change log won’t know this.
