Infuse 8.1 now available

Infuse 8.1 with some great new additions is now available for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, and Vision!

Alphabet scrollbars

The browsing experience has been rebuilt from the ground up for improved performance and reliability. In addition to being faster this lays the groundwork for some great new features, such as an alphabet scrollbar to quickly jump between sections while browsing.

Note: The quick letter jump feature is available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV while browsing Infuse library categories as well as Plex. On Apple TV, the letter bar is hidden to start and will appear automatically when scrolling quickly through a list of videos.

Stream from 123 Cloud Drive(123云盘)

Direct support for 123 Cloud Drive is now available! 123 Cloud Drive is a popular cloud service available in China with storage options of up to 100 TB. This new feature is available to all Pro users.

Note: Streaming from 123 Cloud Drive is available on all platforms (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, and Vision), but connections to cloud services need to be set up on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Vision. Once this is done on a single device the connection will then sync to other devices via iCloud.

More Dolby Vision

Robust support for Dolby Vision has been available in Infuse for quite some time, and today it gets expanded even further with added handling of even more Dolby Vision (Profile 8) variants! These changes are available on all devices and will be available automatically after installing the 8.1 update. The latest versions of iOS/tvOS 18, macOS 15, and visionOS 2 are recommended for the best experience.

STRM files

A STRM file is a versatile format which can be used to build of library of lightweight text files, each containing an HTTP link to a video file stored elsewhere. This works similarly to the Direct URL feature but allow for links to be added without having to copy/paste them into Infuse. Learn more about using .STRM files.

Stability fixes and improvements

A handful of other improvements and fixes are also included so be sure to check out the full list of what’s new in 8.1.

Cant see it yet in the Apple store. Still 8.0.9 is there

It takes some time for it to disseminate to all app stores. Give it a little while.

Ok  btw pictures are not shown like in Plex App ist this a potential feature which will be one available? Thanks

Is the Black Flicker on MacOS finally gone?

…added handling of even more Dolby Vision (Profile 8) variants!

Can you elborate a bit on which variants?

Since it was intermittent for you it may be best to try the new release on your system to see if it covered your specific issue.

I would like to know too!

Got 8.1 on the apple tv but NO ALPHABET showing, ONLY Dots…

Just checking, did you see this?

Nope, tried that. Quickly scrolling only shows the DOTS

Using SMB share from my NAS. Not using Library.

I also cannot make the letter appear, no matter how fast I scroll, on ATV.
Tried in both library and file browser.

Due to the variety of ways Dolby Vision Profile 8 videos can be created there were some files with certain characteristics that were not previously supported. These would either fallback to HDR or display a black screen. These are now supported and working.

Which sorting method are you using Infuse? The letter jumps will be available when sorting by ‘Title’.

You may also double-check to ensure you have the 8.1 update installed. The version number can be found at the bottom of the Infuse > Settings menu.

Also, due to limitations with Emby and Jellyfin servers, the letters will not currently be available when using either of these (in Direct Mode). The Emby team has expressed interest in making a small change that would allow these to start working, and we’re hoping Jellyfin is open to the same.

Sort by Title fixed it for me (I had it set to Sort by Filename)

Well that sucks, it only works with sorted by Titles. Why not by file name? Sheesh…

I have my sort on filenames because some are using the added imdb number in order to get them to show the thumbs in the correct order.

Info here is pretty confusing. I’m seeing the alphabet scroller and I only use Jellyfin. To see it, I hold the down arrow on my ATV remote and it shows up after scrolling for 2-3 seconds.

That being said, I really wish I didn’t have to start scrolling to see it. I know what I want to find and I want to use the alphabet scroller from the top of the list. Glad to see this finally implemented nonetheless.

Please… PLEASE work on multi-users/profiles.

Sorry for the confusion. If you are using Jellyfin with Library Mode then these will be available, it’s only Direct Mode which will not have this available at this time.

This is the way Apple has implemented their native scroll bars at this time, and unfortunately they don’t provide an option for making this visible full time. Maybe in the future?
