Infuse 8.1.6 now available

Infuse 8.1.6 is now available! :raising_hands:

NEW

IMPROVED

FIXED

Note: After upgrading, Infuse will migrate existing iCloud storage to a new bucket (Infuse). This may take a few minutes. After the migration is complete the older iCloud bucket (Infuse Pro 6) can be removed to free up storage space in iCloud.

More information on using iCloud Sync can be found in this guide.

Is it normal for it to have to fetch all artwork again after the install of 8.1.6 on tvOS?

Edit to add:

It also added back to the main screen lists that were previously removed like ā€œMovie Genresā€ ā€œUnwatched TV Showsā€ and ā€œTop Rated Moviesā€.

Not a biggie, just mentioning it in case it’s odd.

Possibly, but it really depends on what info is presently stored on the device. Also, if Infuse happened to recently restore library data from a Cloud Backup then artwork would need to be refetched.

The iCloud synchronization is already running excellently on my iPad and iPhone. The speed has improved enormously with the update - finally no more long waiting times of 20 minutes. I still need to synchronize the Apple TV and Vision Pro, but I’m confident that it will work smoothly here as well. Thank you very much :+1:

That article by itself does not specifically mention which iCloud storage bucket will deleted. As written It can be interpreted as the current storage bucket. Sitting here running 4 atv’s and wanting to make sure every one of them stay’s in sync after upgrading them, I’m a bit concerned about going forward.

After some investigation, on my MBP running Sequoia 15.4.1 in system settings>my name>icloud>Manage then scrolling down, Infuse Pro 6 is listed under the ā€˜Others’ section. Clicking on that brings up the ability to delete it from iCloud. This is the of type detail that should be pointed out in the linked doc above.

The old iCloud bucket is Infuse Pro 6 and this can be removed once you have 8.1.6 installed and syncing on all devices.

Error Messages:
An error occurred - Unknown
Fetching content for Dropbox - Indexing failed for Dropbox

Currently unable to access any of my content. Was watching an episode and at the end clicked the ā€œNext episodeā€ button and got the error message. Unable to access my favorited shares or any movies or tv shows in the respective folders.

Was able to access the files from Dropbox via the App and web browser.

Seems to be working again now as I was typing this, but just something for you to investigate.

Thanks.

A post was split to a new topic: Direct access to iCloud sync data

I don’t think this occurred in previous versions, but there’s a big difference between accessing a show through the library vs accessing it from ā€˜Recently Added’.

If a show has a ton of seasons, it takes a few seconds to load when accessed either from the ā€˜Shows’ library, or from the ā€˜On Deck’ list, etc. But if I access the same show from the ā€˜Recently Added’ list, all the episodes across every season loads instantly, without a hint of the spin wheel.

Why is that? How come the same show loads so much faster from one list, but slower from another?

Because I’m using Dropbox it takes about 40 seconds to load my largest library folder (TV Shows).

My ā€œfixā€ was adding Unwatched TV shows and Tv Shows to the Home Screen, as for some reason, using these sections causes the same exact content to load instantly. It’s like that for me on AppleTV, iPad & iPhone.

If you are browsing via folders you may consider disabling the ā€˜Smart Folders’ option as this can allow for faster loading of content within folders (outside of the Library).

More information on Smart Folders can be found here.

Hi @james - First time poster here, but I’ve subscribed to infuse for a long time already. I cannot recall to have ever had any issues with Infuse on my Apple TV 4K (1st gen, tvos 18.4.1) or on my iPhone (13, 18.5) until before 8.1.6. I have iCloud sync enabled, streaming from a Jellyfin instance (was running on 10.10.3 for the past months, but in an attempt to solve my issues I’ve also updated to latest 10.10.7) in my LAN with 2.5GBit/s connection. I’ve not been home since start of may, neither media files nor anything else on the setup was changed. Entire system was basically running in standby, anything that isn’t auto-update wasn’t changed.

Since returning I’ve found Infuse to be HIGHLY unstable for me… I can’t tell you its because of 8.1.6 or since any other version between 8.1.3 and 8.1.6 (before being away, 8.1.2 was the last one that I can confirm worked). But I’m facing the following issues. I’ve completely cleared all metadata in the Infuse app settings, reinstalled the app, reconnected to my media server, forced a full rescan. Jellyfin and the media files work just fine, no corrupt files or system issues on the server. Watching via the web-ui in jelly works fine.

  • Extremely long loading times to start playback. Like, for a 1080p, 15Mbps bit rate video it will load 30 seconds to start.
  • Metadata just randomly becoming corrupt. If I watch season 2 of a series and it continues to the first episode of season 3, even though season 2 worked just fine for the past days, no episode in season 3 can be played until I hit the ā€œrefresh metadataā€ on the episode info screen. Afterwards everything works fine again. Coming back the next day, metadata may need to be refreshed again, may not need to be refreshed, it’s a bit of a gamble.
  • I regularly get a ā€œcom.firecore.media.playerā€ error, mostly when starting the playback. Trying the playback again may resolve the error but it pops up again every once in a while.

It’s really frustrating, because I’ve checked every media file initially, assuming files became corrupt. Then checked everything in Jelly, but it’s fine too. Now I regularly have to close Infuse and regularly force a full rescan, load metadata, clear all metadata, and still have long loading times.

In my last ditch attempt I’ve now also removed Infuse entirely on all my devices, removed icloud sync and all data and did a complete fresh install on my apple tv. Atleast that got rid of the long loading times on above example, can’t yet say whether it solved the metadata issues and the firecore.media error. But something definitely doesn’t work as it should in the latest Infuse App on Apple TV. Do you have any recommendations I can attempt to resolve my issues?

PIN: DGSZN. I did upload them AFTER removing Infuse from all other devices and erasing icloud syncs and after a full rescan. Not sure how far back the logs go.

Agree with you. I love Infuse so much that is why i pay an anuall fee but from the lasts updates the app is getting worse. I ve made a test today with a copy of Infuse called VidHub from Apple Tv AppStore and everything works flawlessly but in Infuse i have problems on the SMB server with speed ( 50 mbps ) but now im using webdab ( 300 mbps ) all on wi-fi but also with this speed i still have problems on playing 80gb videos heivc/remux/atmos etc etc problems that on VidHub doesn’t exist and changing smb version settings and all the other possibles workaround don’t fix nothing that is why i made a test with vidhub where no problems but i love infuse too much and i want to keep using only infuse. Also another problem is in the middle of the movies goes out like if im pressing the back button … hope the app will be as good as it was before

I feel you, I really loved Infuse so far and hope there’s bugfixes coming soon!
Do you by any chance have iCloud sync enabled? Does turning it off entirely improve the bugs for you too? Tested it 2d now, I still occassionally get an error and long loading times, but significantly less often. Disabling & deleting from iCloud, then turning it back on will almost instantly cause huge loading times, crashes and metadata corruptions. Atleast if it’s disabled I can watch ~10 Episodes without major interruptions. Still unfortunate to have to disable an entire feature :frowning:
