If you are unable to sign into Infuse Pro, for some reason logging into Trakt will help turn that feature on.
Trakt provides an alternative way to share purchases in addition to (or in place of) Appleās native Family Sharing. This means you can share purchases between App Store regions which Apple does not support natively.
In the case of pre-release builds like this, it provides a reliable way to share your normal App Store purchase with the TestFlight app.
IAP are a notorious issue for TestFlights. They get reset all the time and are in large a pain.
I am currently enrolled in the TestFlight but I am only seeing up to 7.7.4738
Do I have to re-enroll to be able to see 8.0?
Gotcha, that makes sense!
Did you see the link in the first post for AVP testflight?
I think so, but maybe I am missing something. Is there a specific link needed for the AVP beta?
Trying to play Dolby Vision hevc mkv (dvhe.05.06), but error shows āInfuse is unable to play this file because the required codec is not available.ā Any ideas? I have Pro enabled via trakt.
My feedback so far:
-
HDR and DV support is the single most essential feature that needs to work on AVP right now for me. Color is not as bright and contrast as Apple TV app and IMAX, so this means Infuse Vision OS not properly playing HDR content as many people are saying.
-
It seems to get stuck often, go to apps and click on infuse will refresh and get it work again
-
There is a resizing problem, itās difficult to look at the corner. Also as some have said, buttons are a bit small and too next to each other making it difficult to eye track when screen is stretched big.
-
Letters seem to have scale problem, subtitle looking blurry. Volume and playtime scroll bar also seem to have it.
I donāt know if itās just me, but HDR (or Dolby Vision) seems to kick in Vision Pro when choosing an environment from the video playing app. The one where the screen is massive and not resizable. When activating an environment using the crown (floating video window, resizable) it doesnāt look HDR, and if choosing a dark environment the video is actually dimmer.
Could this possibly explain why Infuse cannot play HDR in Vision Pro?
What Iām also curious is as to why apps like Disney or Max have their own exclusive environments and not using the Apple ones like the Apple Theatre. Are these exclusive to Apple TV+? How will that affect apps like Infuse?
I suppose the developers will have those answers soon.
Immersive environments are currently app specific. Outside of the TV app being able to use your last used system environment.
Hopefully a future Vision OS release adds the ability to use and donate environments to the system level list.
As far as infuse goes they will either have to create their own, or just have us go into one of Apples system wide ones and blow the screen up.
It would be nice if Apple would just donate the code for the Apple Theater one. A bunch of media apps would probably appreciate that.
Great job so far, hereās my feedback:
- The window needs to retain its aspect ratio when resizing.
- The controls need to be made larger and spaced out more. I would like to see something like the Music app controls, but in a floating panel below the player window that disappears after a few seconds and shows up after ātappingā the player. Maybe an option to keep it visible at all times in settings. I second @photograftās suggestion of using JunoSlider for the progress bars and volume controls. If you mimic the Music appās controller, you can show the Series name with the episode title below it above the progress bar.
- Add an option to the gesture controls to play/pause the video when ātappingā the center of the video, the way the standard Apple Video player works. I would like to have this option on the iPhone and iPad as well.
Could you confirm that a new round of TestFlight invites are send out today? Canāt wait to test it on the AVP.
How frequently can we expect the TestFlight app be updated? Thanks!
I wouldnāt expect super rapid development. Itās a small team and this is clearly a niche branch of the app. Just glad James bought one so he is personally invested in making it awesome.
Ive seen this and provided the input via the form earlier, including a screenshot of the subscription.
Have not seen the invite in TestFlight / email coming in.
I just received it!!
Resolution seems to get better when expanding the frame size to its max. Brightness is still dependent on the environment used.
I joined the Beta today after getting my invite. I think I have seen some of these mentioned already, but these are just a few things Iāve noticed out of the gate.
- The window resizing is a bit finicky during media playback.
- The playback window appears to be letterboxed similar to what we see when running the iPad version.
- Something about the playback resolution feels off. I was testing out a 4K rip, and while the playback seemed smooth, I noticed that the text in the title sequences were noticeably jagged. I experienced this too running the iPad version as well.
- Sometimes the volume goes a little haywire, and just randomly increases or decreases.
- It doesnāt appear that HDR is working properly. The image quality feels a bit dark and washed out on the few pieces of HDR content I tested.
All-in-all, for this being an initial alpha release, I think we are off to a good start, and know the kinks will eventually get ironed out. Looking forward to testing out further builds as they drop.
