On iOS 26.2 and App Version 8.3.5. Haven’t verified this on other platforms yet.
I’m currently seeing a show that shows on both “Currently Watching” at the top, and also in the “Recently Added” section, both on the home page. While these are as expected.
The show in the recently added section shows the correct number of seasons, i.e. 5 seasons that I have on my NAS. Whereas the same show on the currently watching section, shows only season 1 and 5.
Both are un-downloaded shows from the NAS directly.

I believe that’s going to be correct. The currently watching only shows seasons that you have partially watched episodes or unfinished seasons.
If you look at all of the episodes in season one and season five on the show you have in the currently watching section there’s probably one or more either unwatched or only partially watched.
The recently added section will show all seasons available regardless of watched status or in progress watching.

I have finished season 1 entirely. I’m currently watching season 2. Season 2 doesn’t show up. Season 1 shows up.
I did check season 5, there were only two episodes, and both are unwatched as seen in the screenshots below from the currently watching section.
While what you said makes sense, it’s not how it’s working here for me either.
