In my Infuse (running on Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen, connected to a Jellyfin instance), I routinely deal with extremely large folders. My main Jellyfin folder has 1000+ elements in it.
Infuse doesn’t provide an easy way to easily find something in such large folders, as far as I can tell.
Possible ways to improve navigation in such folders may include:
When holding the up/down button in the remote, show the name of the item at the current scroll position while scrolling (so that I know when to stop, when scrolling a sorted list)
Currently, Infuse only shows a dotted vertical bar on the right side. That’s not helpful.
Provide a way to quickly jump to a specific letter (A, B, C…).
Official Jellyfin clients have this and it works quite well.
After some more testing I realized that the “List view” option does not do much when using a Jellyfin server, but it does work when I point Infuse to an SMB network share instead. When holding the down button in list view, scrolling a large folder is doable as the names are still shown while scrolling, making it possible to know when to stop.
So my advice to users with this problem is: use a network share, not Jellyfin.
