I have found the sliders in the immersive environment interesting to try out - and would request they stay in some form - even if it’s buried a couple menus deep. I’ve found I change settings depending on mood.
I’d also request an option for Skip Intro/Credits buttons to be visible in Immersive mode. I found it very irritating to have to exit Immersive to hit those buttons when watching television in the environment.
My favourite cinema environments are the ones in the Disney+ app - mainly for novelty! The new Alien Earth one is particularly fun. I seem to not have as many issues with dealing with reflections.
If we’re focusing purely on function, the Apple cinema environment is the most functional. I’ve found Supercut’s dupe of Apple’s environment to be not as effective in my personal experience, something to do with the space feeling too zoomed out?
I agree above the IMAX environment is good, but I personally find the Apple Cinema one to be the most effective when considering only function.
What I mainly enjoy about cinema environments though is the novelty! It’s great to have a functional option, but fans-and-glare-be-damned, I enjoy the silliness of a drive in or spaceship or classic cinema experience.
One thing I noticed playing MKVs with Dolby Vision is that the blacks seem elevated, whereas HDR10 looks correct. You can turn off Dolby Vision and that seems to fix it, but I was wondering if you’re going to need the HDR Color settings like on the Mac Os Version, which seems to correct that issue when it appears.
EDIT: The Dolby Vision toggle in the menu bar doesn’t work, the one that works is on the general settings.
I also think the Apple Theater is the best, but in my opinion what they figured out is the size of the screen in relation to the area, like at medium row it looks big but great, you really feel the dimension of a movie theater, something that I cannot find replicated in all the other apps, they focus on reflections, materials, which are important, but the room feels small somehow when you watch a movie.
Another issue I noticed, watching UHD MKVs, in non-immersive, subtitles appear to be the correct size, but when entering IS they become really small. A way to control the size would be great.
I’ve not been able to activate my pro sub whilst using the testflight alpha, is there a way I can activate with my current sub so I can watch higher quality remuxes?
Weirdly it’s even worse with The Hobbit trilogy (UHD rips in Dolby Vision Profile 8), but I noticed the bug is also present on the current Infuse builds in non-immersive (8.2.X).
Really nice update!
I think the Dolby Vision issue got solved.
I am still noticing frame skipping issues, and after testing several file formats the culprit seems to be videos at 24fps instead of 23.98fps. I have large size UHD BD rips at 23.98 that play smoothly and MKV TV shows at 24fps that play with skips.
Now on the environments, I think the Sunset and Space are nice, but I question the practicality, since they are too bright and too distracting for movie watching. You could say that the space one should be fine but the galaxies, which are bright and colorful in my opinion distracts me from the experience.
Same as the room, it’s not bad, it feels a little small and claustrophobic right now to me, and maybe that’s because there are no positioning controls yet, but for example the coffee table in front of you is too bright as well. We might need a way to control or reduce the light on those environments.
Have you checked the official IMAX app? The theater environment in it is crazy good and untouchable. I feel you guys can nail it. If it’s implemented well. Is it possible to consider?

I want to start by saying, Infuse has the best color fidelity when it comes to HDR in immersive.
I don’t want to sound over criticizing, since I appreciate the efforts the devs are putting into this space, but being a “yes man” doesn’t help anybody, so please take this honest feedback for what it is, just my impressions.
Here’s a picture of the Cinema Environment at middle preset.
As you can see, the screen is covered by the seats in front of it, and the presets are fixed, no way to adjust height position.
When it comes to the amphitheater, I was a bit excited I admit, thinking it could be something close to the IMAX environment, but it turned out to be something similar to the space and the sky one, where the only thing you can adjust is the screen position, not your position in the environment, as it is most of the cases with immersive environments in other apps.
Here using the “back” presets doesn’t change my position in the environment, just make the screen smaller.
