Immersive environments for visionOS

This is the one missing feature keeping me from renewing Infuse. Infuse is so much better and more reliable, but other apps like Screenlit and Plexi (the latter is free) both have high quality custom theater environments that with a push of a button make a giant screen the perfect distance away and hide all your other apps.

Currently with Infuse to get something similar you gotta organize all your windows, set the environment to night, size and move the Infuse window EVERY TIME.

If Firecore would add even a basic theater option, these other apps would be useless and every Vision Pro user watching non 3D content would use Infuse (if y’all add 3D support too it would be a must-download for all).

I think you might have been working on environments - please use my message above to convince your team to give you the time to add an immersive environment, even a black theater screen to start!

Don’t forget that you need to click the like button on the first post in this thread to show your support for this suggestion!

I’m not sure if this is caused by the immersive environment because you can see it in the Apple TV app when not in one, but comparing Infuse to Plexi on Vision Pro, Infuse looks dark and dull compared to Plexi in an immersive environment. This is especially the case with HDR and Dolby Vision where it’s as if Infuse doesn’t even support them on Vision based on how much darker it is whereas Plexi looks just like the Apple TV app.

The problem I believe is that video and audio gets influenced by the surroundings, whereas in an app invoked immersive environment it’s not influenced by that.

Plexi gives you a choice to select the engine, which in the case you’re describing I believe is Apple’s own. I wish at least we could have that option in Infuse for Plex connections. I don’t understand really what the issue is to prevent that other than not having enough resources to implement it.

The downside of Plexi is that is very lacking in features, but the image quality is a million times better, I agree. I would try other apps like CineUltra or Skybox as well.

Ah, that makes sense! Infuse should probably take their Vision Pro app down until they get this sorted as I checked and even watching Plex on Safari has better picture and sound quality and what is the point of a paid media player that plays media worse than every other free app

Hope they get this sorted before other apps can catch up on missing features.

Then there’s the issue that content in 4K is not properly scaled, you have to blow the screen super big and it’s sitting right in front of your face and you can’t move it backwards to a comfortable distance.
So when it comes to 4K it’s really unusable. If at least we could get that issue sorted out with a dark environment like the moon it’s passable, but it’s been a real dissapointment.
