I/O error while ftp 'ing to external USB drive.

Hi, when FTP ing to the Movies folder using CuteFTP or Fugu I get an error part way through the file upload.

It seems like it is running out of space, as retry consistently fails at the same point, and trying to upload another file when the first fails stops doesn’t work at all (i.e. zero data transfers).

It shouldn’t be running out of space as there is 498G available.

-bash-2.05b$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/disk0s3 900M 497M 394M 56% /
devfs 98K 98K 0B 100% /dev
fdesc 1.0K 1.0K 0B 100% /dev
512K 512K 0B 100% /.vol
/dev/disk0s4 36G 36G 0B 100% /mnt
/dev/disk1s1 535G 37G 498G 7% /mnt/Scratch/Volumes/appletv
/dev/disk1s2 62G 55M 61G 0% /mnt/Scratch/Volumes/spare

But the external drive does seem to be “filling up” at about the same capacity as the Apple TV’s original drive… 37G Vs 36G. Also the Settings/General/About lists the available as 494G. Which makes me wonder.

Any help appreciated

Apple TV 40GB 2.3.1
ATVflash 3.5.3
WD external HD 640GB, 1 partition OSX journal extended 535G, 1 partition 62GB FAT32

OK, it turns out I was FTPing to the original apple TV drive, thinking it was taking me to the external USB drive. So I was filling up the Apple TV drive, but had plenty of free storage on the USB drive.

Please tell me how to do this! I am having the exact same problem… I have followed the set-up guide from ATV, installed the software, set the USB drive up sucesfully (Itunes tells me I have 800GB of storage avaiable). However I have now re-installed the software 4 times because each time I get to a simmiar number of films on the ATV I get the ‘null’ message. I am using cyber duck.
