How to Sort TV Shows by File Creation Date in Infuse

Hello everyone,
I’m having trouble sorting my TV shows in Infuse (iOS) by the file creation or modification date. I would like to display my shows based on when the files were actually added or created on my server, so I can easily find the most recently added series or episodes. Unfortunately, even when using the available sorting options or the “Recently Added” filter, the order does not always match the actual file creation or addition date.
This issue doesn’t seem to affect movies, which are sorted correctly by file modification date. However, for TV shows, the sorting appears to be based on other criteria (such as name or air date), making it difficult to keep track of new content.
Is there a solution or workaround to force Infuse to sort TV shows by file creation or modification date?
If not, could this feature be considered for a future update?
Thank you in advance for your help and feedback!

One thing you can try is to switch to List View and also sort things by date. This will separate the episodes from being grouped which should allow sorting to rely on the data of the individual episodes.

Thank you for your suggestion.

However, switching to a mixed list view is too complicated for my use case. My library is organized with one folder per series, and inside each series folder, there are separate folders for each season. I prefer to keep this structured view rather than having all episodes mixed together.

Also, I didn’t have this issue in previous versions of Infuse—the sorting by file date used to work as expected for series. I even tried manually changing the modification dates of the files and folders, but it didn’t make any difference in the sorting order.

Is there any way to restore the previous sorting behavior, or could you consider bringing back the option to sort series by file or folder date in a future update?

Thank you for your help.

Not doubting you but I don’t recall where you could set TV series to sort by file creation/mod dates. The only place in Infuse that I’ve ever seen these dates being used is for the recently added sort in the library.

Just curious as to why you prefer the file mod date over the date the episode aired in season order?

Edit to Add:
Never mind on where the sort by creation/mod date options are. Just found it in the TV shows on the Mac. I just never needed that so I didn’t poke around that much.

Thank you for your help.

I’ve found a workaround to get around the sorting issue:

  • In Infuse, I set the sorting option to “date.”
  • Then, I grouped all the episodes of a series into a single folder named after the series, mixing all seasons together (I removed the separate “Season 1,” “Season 2,” etc. subfolders).
  • To adjust the file dates, I used an app from the App Store called “Touche - modification de date.”

This solution does break my usual organization and makes things a bit less tidy, but at least it works for now.

Thank you again for your support. I’ll keep an eye out for a more robust and user-friendly solution in the future.
