This is a bit difficult to explain, but here I go:-
There are (at least) three different television shows based on Henning Mankell’s police detective, Wallander: one with Kenneth Branagh, one with Krister Henriksson, and one with Rolf Lassgård.
The Branagh and Henriksson shows were both television series in their own right, and so have their own seasons and episodes: 1, 2, 3, etc.
Lassgård’s shows were a mix of one-off TV movies and miniseries.
I’m trying to figure out how to organise these into folders and name and tag them in such a way that they show up in my Library as ‘Wallander’ — probably with different suffixes (‘Branagh’, ‘Henriksson’, etc). But I don’t seem to be able to get this to work. They wind up all mixed together, and files are assigned to the wrong episodes and so forth.
Brilliant. Works fine for Branagh and Henriksson (I used their names rather than the years in the folder/file names). Cheers.
The Lassgård shows are more complicated, as there are several. I tried the name route as with the other two, but they don’t show up. I will see if using a year works, or if I need to add the IMDb index to each one. We’ll see!
Yes, it’s complicated with this last one. Some of the shows — eg, Steget efter (2005), Pyramiden (2007) — are one-off films. Others — eg, Brandvägg (2006), Mannen som log (2003) — are actual series, with multiple episodes. All of the series ones are independent in IMDb; ie, they have one season each: s1e1, s1e2, etc. They’re not part of an ongoing show, such as the Branagh version.
So the trick is to figure out how to list these under a single tile and get a ‘season’ menu for the different shows. Or maybe I just need to put them into a Collection (which is not as nice, but I suppose would work).
I’d say that getting them correctly labeled with name and year so that TMDB provides the correct metadata and then putting them in a collection in the order you want them is going to be the best way to go.
You can also use playlists and when you add a tv series there it will show each individual episode in one long list. To me it’s not as elegant as the collection set but it may be more of what you’re looking for.
