Hello, First post, as I didn’t find this issue elsewhere.
On TV series “Arrow”, Season 4 Episode 8 - Legends of Yesterday (II) -, picks up from TV series “The Flash”, Season 2 Episode 8 - Legends of Today (I) -. TMDB addresses this with a footnote under the respective episodas but that is all. How do I get (or is it even possible) Infuse to include the episode from The Flash with the rest of Season 4 of Arrow so the series flows properly when watched? The DVD has them listed as episodes 8a and 8b but that does nothing for setting up the media server and Infuse doesn’t yet support Metadata override for TV, yet.
Unfortunately, TMDB doesn’t have an official way to handle crossover episodes so it makes it challenging for an app like Infuse to do automatically.
However, the 8.4 version of Infuse added support for extras so one potential solution would be to add a copy of the desired episode(s) as an extra for the crossover series (or specific episode). This would allow an episode to appear on the details page for the other series which would provide quick access for when it comes time to watch it.
More info on how to name these files so they can appear as extras can be found here.
Thank you for the reply, but I’m lost on how I can get Infuse to pull The Flash, Season 2 Episode 8 - Legends of Today by naming it anything other than same, and yet have Infuse attach it as an extra to Arrow, Season 4 Episode 8 - Legends of Yesterday, if it is named for The Flash, Season 2 Episode 8 - Legends of Today.
Current, I have both episodes under the Arrow folder and name for Arrow, Season 4 Episode 8 - Legends of Yesterday is: Arrow.s4e8 Legends of Yesterday (II) and for the crossover file is: Arrow.s4e8 Legends of Today (I) {Edision-other}. (using “Legends of Today (I)” from Flash doesn’t help Infuse, but it tells me which is which)
Infuse shows Qty (2) “8 Legends of Yesterday (II)”. One plays the Flash episode (but presents it as an Arrow product with no indication it is from Flash) and the other plays the Arrow episode.
I’m mostly stuck at this point, as modifying metadata for the Flash file, using Subler, does not “take” in Infuse, and changing metadata in Infuse, changed the metadata for the entire media, not just the one oddball. Am I missing something?
The approach I described above would allow you to view the episode as an extra which is attached to a completely different series. This can be attached to the series itself or to a specific episode within the series depending on how the extra file is named. I believe this would be the best option as Infuse does not support injecting crossover episodes within another series episode timeline at this time.
Note: This would entail creating a copy of the video and storing it alongside the other series where you want to have it appear.
Thank you, again, for your help and I have no doubt the workaround you described works, I’m just unsure as to whether or not I’ve implemented it correctly. As you can see, nothing indicates the 2nd “Legends of Yesterday (II)" is for the Flash crossover file, and I’ve found no way to get Infuse to display anything other than the name of Arrow Season 4 Episode 8 Infuse pulls as the crossover is attached to that episode. Nor do I see how to assign a separate backdrop to the crossover file, stored alongside the Arrow series. Using Subler on it didn’t work and Infuse does not permit local data for a single episode.
If that is how it should be, no problem. I can put in a feature request, but I suspect it would be pretty low on the list as crossovers aren’t that common. But your reply leads me to believe some other result might be expected and I have failed to properly implement your workaround.
The series “Arrow” is in a Folder, within folder “TV Shows”, and contains all episodes for Arrow. This is the immediate area around the crossover at Arrow s4e8.
TV Shows/Arrow (2012)/
Arrow.s4e6 Lost Souls.mp4
Arrow.s4e7 Brotherhood.mp4
Arrow.s4e8 Legends of Today (I) {Edision-other}.mp4
Arrow.s4e8 Legends of Yesterday (II).mp4
Arrow.s4e9 Dark Waters.mp4
anything following Arrow.s4.8 is overridden by the Infuse metadata pull.
If you read the complete synopsis of both Arrow S04E08 and The Flash S02E08 you’ll see that both synopsis refer to the cross over episode in the other series so the info is there also.
