How to determine pro vs free format?

Hi… I’ve a 480p mp4 that I ripped from a dvd that Infuse wants me to upgrade to Pro to play.

This is the only file I’ve come across like this

How do I determine what is causing infuse to require pro? I’ll happily rerip the dvd, but i do t readily see info about how to ensure free feature will play the result.

Thx in advance for any guidance.

Use an app called mediainfo and post the results. Might be a special encoding if video or audio that is triggering it.

It’s most likely the audio codec that requires a licensing fee from the developer.

I have to ask though, if you like the player have you thought about doing a subscription to the pro version? Then you don’t have to re-rip things and you’ll also be supporting the developer so even more good things can be added.

I’ve no issue purchasing software… I just want to have a better idea of how it works before I do so, and haven’t really had a chance to put this through its paces.

Generally surround sound is going to require pro and also if you want to airplay anything. Try finding something with just a stereo track and see if that works. I make travel friendly h264/h265 versions with aac stereo that doesn’t require pro
