Excellent! Great to see this was implemented.
Like Nouniard, I also use Modern view and the setting doesn’t seem to work there, but it does when I switch to New.
Adding another user to the “oops” list. Modern isn’t working for the hide ratings.
Looks like the Classic view also isn’t working for hide ratings.
Modern view needs to also follow the option of hide ratings. 
Edit to add: It doesn’t appear to be working on the MacOS version either after turning off show external ratings in the settings.

I see it’s already been reported, turning off ratings have no effect on Modern view. Fix it please.
I would love if the change had been “Display external ratings?”, with the options being “Yes”, “Movies only”, “TV Shows only” and “No”. I rate movies (and want to know what others have rated them) but I never rate TV shows.

Today’s 8.1.9 update resolves a few cases where ratings would still be visible if the option was disabled. 
We are also considering adding more granular options to allow for different behaviors for movies and TV shows.

Thank you so much James! It is spectacular that you delivered on this request.
Even greater would be to have an option to still look at the ratings by request (eg after you watched the episode, or linked to the “hide spoiler” mechanism).
Infuse 8.2 includes additional options so the ratings can adjusted independently for movies and TV shows.
