HEVC Main 10 playback completely failing in 5.5.4 on AppleTV 4K

Just got my AppleTV 4K yesterday, its awesome and has until now played absolutely everything I’ve thrown at it (albeit with some sound issues, we need more options than “Auto” and "Passthrough…wth).

Today I attempted to play this video and it dropped nearly every frame leaving me with a stuttering audio track and then crashed Infuse

Downloaded and added to my Media storage obviously.

Ok some facts===============
My AppleTV is:
Connected via Ethernet (1Gb)
Using 4:4:4 color on 4K@60hz (SDR)
Infuse 5.5.4
I am a Pro customer

Has anyone else seen this issue? I did a search before posting, nothing seemed to be exactly the same on the 4K, plenty of posts on the 4th gen one though.

Same here with an Apple TV 4K and Infuse 5.5.4.

VLC on my MacBook Pro cannot read it properly, but MplayerX can, with audio problems

After remuxing it into an mkv, same on the Mac and Infuse on the Apple TV …but my TV can now read it, with problems …and identifies a Dolby Pulse track.
Remuxing it as video only, without the audio track …it works on Infuse on the Apple TV

So it seems the issue is with the audio-track, which is Dolby Pulse/HE-AAC.
I don’t know if the issue is with this specific file or Infuse, but I’d guess it is the file.

That’s some brilliant troubleshooting!

I hadn’t thought the audio would be anything special and typically audio just fails if it’s an issue.

My windows media pc running Windows 10 and Kodi 17.4 plays it without issue as does my Sony x810c TV running Kodi.

Not supporting HEAAC is likely ok but definitely not ideal as it is a supported Bluray uhd audio format I think. Having trouble finding the reference to that this morning.

Thanks for the report.

We’re looking into one other issue which may be related, and we’ll be sure to look at this video as well.

FYI mrmc now plays these videos flawlessly after the latest update

Thanks! We’ll take a look.
