Hebrew subtitles RTL

Some content with embedded subs (specifically stuff originally from appletv+ like “loot” ) seems to be LTR instead of RTL. That means punctuation at the end of a sentence appears on the right instead of the left.

External set firs are always fine. This is only on some titles (the boys is fine, for example).

Is there a way to fix this for RTL languages?

Seeing this on internal subs. Top gun : maverick has this issue.

Can you upload a sample video which exhibits this issue we can review here?

missed this reply. Just uploaded (wow, dropbox uploads are slow).

any news on this?

This is in progress for the upcoming 7.4.9 release.

If you want to try the beta, you can use this link to join TestFlight.

(link no longer available)

Beta testing notes:

1. Downloading the app from TestFlight would replace your current version.
2. You can switch back to the release version by downloading Infuse from the App Store.
3. Your Infuse Pro license from the App Store will not transfer to TestFlight version, so to activate Pro features you can simply select the Lifetime option after installing the beta (all purchases in TestFlight apps are in Apple’s sandbox, and you’ll receiving a confirmation stating you will not be charged when confirming the purchase).

This should be resolved in today’s 7.4.9 update.

Thanks for your patience.

Unfortunately, we’ll be rolling back the changes in 7.4.9 aimed at addressing this issue.

The changes in 7.4.9 had a side effect of breaking other RTL subtitles. Since the issue in this particular case stems from incorrectly encoded subtitles, it will take further investigation to find a safe way to resolve this.

Can you be more specific?

I haven’t seen any issues at all with this…

Maybe turn it on with a flag?

Ofer LaOr

Here is one example with parenthesis and Arabic subtitles, and these were working correctly in 7.4.8.

There are other examples of correctly encoded subtitles appearing this way in 7.4.9, and unfortunately this means we have to rollback the changes for now.

I wonder if there’s a way to split this between Arabic and Hebrew. Maybe this issue is unique to Hebrew only?

Ofer LaOr

I am glad I found this thread because I was going to post a new issue for this…
indeed the last update(7.4.9) broke RTL subtitles (Hebrew for me).
