From other forum posts, it looks like ATV Flash-black can play 1080p MKV files (outputted as 720p). Can it also passthrough DTS Master and Dolby TrueHD tracks via HDMI to my receiver? If not, is this coming in a future version?
Id like to know this as well…
I’ve tried a few MKVs with DTS Master in them and the audio stream is definitely getting to my receiver, but the files stutter really bad. I re-encoded a 1080p MKV into an 720p AppleTV2 compatible one (with DTS Master and regular DTS audio tracks) using Handbrake, but still got the same problems (on both audio tracks). So for right now, I haven’t found a solution that works.
Can you run one of the files through MediaInfo and send in the specs?
Try to use optical cable rather then HDMI.
SPDIF doesn’t support DTS Master or Dolby TrueHD… they can only be sent across HDMI.
I have attached the output from MediaInfo on one of the MKVs processed through HandBrake.
