Has anyone gotten the new seas0npass to work for ATV on iOS 4.3 (4.2.1)?

For those who have gone through the process of running seas0npass only to find their ATV2 appears normal with no jailbreak, I believe this is expected behaviour.  The jailbreak installs sshd so you can remote in and install what you like.  I installed NitoTV which allows me to install XBMC and and a few other tweaks: http://www.sinfuliphone.com/archive/index.php/t-46007.html

What about Plex ?

Jailbreak using windows 7 and latest version of itunes working great.  No problems with beta 4 either except no smb support (yet).

Kudos! It works great now! The link you provided worked great. I have windows 7 and downloaded putty.exe to ssh into the apple tv. Thank you for the info.

Many Thanks!

Seasonpass worked great with 4.3.1 . smb works, plex, etc... atvflash is fine and mediaplayer .2 is much improved.

A few days ago I couldn't get it to work - I posted same problem as identified by others. Problem was that I didn't follow the instructions properly. Decided to try again and all good! Here goes: Follow directions in seasonpass for non tethered JB. If successful, DO NOT try to follow it up with tethered JB. Reconnect atv2. And here's the trick - NOTHING WILL APPEAR CHANGED!! Don't worry, just continue and load the atv black software and follow directions. Atv resets and when visible you can see the menu has changed and maintenance appears amongst other changes. Set up as required. Works like a dream!! Thank you FireCore!

So if I have the JB ATV2 with all my stuff and settings on (XBMC etc) how do I get the update on it.

Do I have to JB again with the new Seas0npass or will that wipe it?

Hellllp!

You can apply the update via the maintenance menu on the ATV2.

I was not able to get this to work, but for the teather boot, for the first step, you have first plug usb into computer, watch the atv, once the the atv light/indicator flashes repeatedly, plug in the power. The gist is usb then power then hold down buttons, wait for seas0npass success then disconnect usb and plug in hdmi.

Since it seems you didn't have power plugged in with usb, this won't work.

See this.

The problem I'm seeing is I can't ssh to the atv.

Therefore I don't believe it to be jailbroken, despite 'success' for the ipsw install and success for the teather boot, coming from seas0npass.

alrighty i am totally new to this but here is my main question:

my mac pro is in a different room and i am trying to run seas0npass, when it hits ituens there is always an error restoring to the appletv!

but my biggest issue is this:

i have to unplug my atv2 from the wall in a different room and run it into the living room and then plug in the hdmi and the power again, IS THIS THE REASON WHY mine wont jailbreak?

I have followed the directions twice...however after Seas0npass creates a modified IPSW file successfully and i restored it to my ATV2 successfully, i restart the ATV2, see the Apple logo and the screen goes black. Hence, i cannot add my network details in or to ssh into the ATV2.

Anyone experience this?? Please help.

I'm losing hope that I'm ever going to jailbreak mine - I've tried plenty of ways - Seas0nPass looks great and does all the steps right and says its success, and itunes says its restored using the special IPSW, but apple tv look normal when you boot it up, and I can't ssh into it - there is no response when ssh'ing.

Occasionally, when I have been running seas0npass, and the atv comes up in itunes, it shows 2 atv's mounted sometimes. This is weird. I havn't seen anyone mention this anywhere else yet. I have 4.3.1 on my atv - successfully updated from the applestore first from a beta version of 4.3 which was on it when i bought it new.

I've tried Pwnage too, but it never works for me - the DFU mode never seems to correctly launch. Maybe thats my issue....

Hi, I have jail broken with season pass and have installed tv flash succesfully. I used to have the same problems, if you follow these step you will fix the problems.

  1. follow every instruction on this web-link read it twice make sure you understood the instructions clearly. http://support.firecore.com/entries/387605-jailbreaking-101-seas0npass

  2. At the end very end once itunes has comfirmed that everything is all good. you need to remove the usb cable quickly and plug in the hdmi cable. Your hdmi cable also need to be connected to your tv. Do not disconnect power from your apple tv. In order to do all these thing, your computer must be within reach of your tv.

  3. Once you see your apple tv booted up on screen, everything will look exactly the same nothing has changed, don’t worry. You need to set up wifi and make sure the internet is working and leave the apple tv on.

  4. Then follow the steps from this weblink. http://support.firecore.com/entries/346673-installing-atv-flash-black

  5. Once this process is done, you will see a maintainance screen on your apple tv. This is when your apple tv is jaib broken and tv flash is installed.

  6. You need to go to maintainance and install Nito Tv and couch surfer and anything else you like.

Good Luck! It works for me

Can you ssh into the ATV2? It may be that you have to force quit the Finder on the ATV2. That is, killall -9 AppleTV   . The -9 is stronger and that often works with the black screen.

I have use seasonpass with 4.3.1 on 2 ATV's. It really was quite easy. Previously I had used other methods as I always had trouble with seasonpass and dfu mode. It may be something as trivial as a bad cable. Try this. Disconnect the atv2. Download the most recent ios for the atv. Now connect the atv to your computer and use iTunes to restore the downloaded file. If that works then you can rule out the cable issue. So disconnect the atv2 from the computer. Run seasonpass ( recent one) and try again...

It does look normal after jailbreaking with seasonpass , it doesn't look any different till you install atv flash
