Handbrake and HDR10 Re-encoding: metadata in bitstream vs container

Handbrake’s docs say that HDR10 metadata is preserved, but with the following limitation:

HDR10 metadata will be written only in the container and not in the bitstream when using NVIDIA NVEnc or AMD VCN.

Does this have any practical difference when playing back on Infuse or the Ugoos AM6B? Am I better off using the CPU-based x265 10-bit encoder and keeping it in the bitstream?
