I’ve been experiencing a bug for the last month or so on tvOS: mid-playback, the video will freeze and a ‘loading’ icon will appear. Playback does not resume at any point. I need to back out of the video and resume it manually. It may be worth noting that I only use Infuse to play back 4K files. Anyone else?
I’m on 8.1.5, and I’ve had my share of the freezes, but the problem happening more often to me is the crash starting playback:
An error occurred
The operation couldn’t be completed (com.firecore.media-player error 1.)
Diagnostic dump: 7A29E. Playback on a PMS share.
This happens repeatedly trying to start playback on the same movie until I start a different move then come back to restart the original, or if I leave Infuse and start again.
James do you have an idea when the fix for this “error 1” stuff is coming out? I’ve been getting hit by this all night. I could find some that would begin to play, but so many random ones just fail with that error. Killing the app or rebooting the ATV doesn’t help.
Becoming very hard to use the app, having to try everything to get something to play. I’ve tried the testbuild but keep getting hit by the license screen that won’t restore.
I’ve found that sometimes I can get something I’ve been watching (partially watched) to play I have to cycle through watched then unwatched, then play. It starts all over again, but at least it starts. But I can’t skip forward, else I’ll crash with error 1 again.
The 8.1.6 update with fixes for a few similar issues was submitted to Apple yesterday. We expect to have this available on the App Store within the next few days.
So, uh, ever since I updated to 8.1.6, I had this exact phenomenon start happening, when I wasn’t having it happen before. Is there any data I can provide to help track down what’s going on?
For my environment, I have:
AppleTV 4k, 2nd gen
tvOS 18.5 (though Infuse updated before the OS update and was having problems then, too)
Infuse Pro 8.1.6
Plex Server 1.41.6.9685
In my case, I’ve been watching 1080p files recently, and it’s been happening with those.
