Free InFuse Player?

I just learned about the InFuse player as a potential player for watching all of my ripped movies and TV shows, etc.

So, I ripped some of my Movie discs (several formats) to .MKV files and created an SMB share on my Windows PC. I downloaded the free InFuse player on both my iPhone and Apple TV 4K. After I set up Infuse to see my test library via SMB shares, I was prompted with only a choice to pay in order to view my ripped movies via InFuse. I thought there was an option for a free InFuse player with much functionality and that the paid InFuse Pro player was for extra features. Is this not the case?

That’s correct, the free version will play many types of files but not the ones that require the use of codecs that have a licensing fee that Firecore must pay to unlock. This page gives some details on the free (standard) version and what the “Pro” version includes.

My guess is the files you ripped require one of the several codecs that Firecore has to license.

Thank you. I also see from related posts below like here: What exactly is the free version supposed to do? - that it looks like it’s also related to me attempting to stream these .MKV files via SMB share.

I’ll try the app for the monthly $1.99 cost to see if it will meet my needs.

Thank you!
