Frame skipping on 1080p movies

When watching 1080p movies, I am consistently experiencing frame skipping. It doesn’t occur immediately, but sometimes 20-30 minutes into the movie. If I return to the menu and then begin playing the movie again, it fixes itself. I have not experienced this behaviour when watching 4K hdr/dv movies, only on 1080p.
For what it’s worth I’m using a 1st gen Apple TV 4K

You may want to check on the ATV that you have the match frame rate option enabled.

I have Match Frame Rate disabled. If I turn Match Frame Rate on, the audio does not sync perfectly to video, but turned off it does.
Still odd that I would only experience the issue on 1080p videos. 4K HDR/DV plays perfectly with Match Frame Rate off. Like I said- 1080p plays fine for 20-30minutes or so and then I begin to get frame skipping. Infuse is the only app that does this- I have not had this issue with any other app

Does it still do this with Match Frame Rate enabled?

Another question, are you connecting the ATV directly to the TV or are you going through an AV receiver then to the TV?

ATV is being connected directly to the TV - no receiver being used. Fair question about whether or not this happens if Match Frame Rate is enabled, I’ll experiment with this and get back to you on that

Did a bit of playing around here and was unable to reproduce the issue I’m having if Match Frame Rate is enabled. So it seems like a frame rate issue.
Once again- keeping this turned on isn’t ideal for my set up as it seems to introduce an audio delay. Also an issue I haven’t experienced on other apps, and only happens when watching non 4K content

You may check to see if there are any motion features or audio delay compensation features enabled on the TV. Some TVs come with these features enabled by default and can have an impact on how things appear when playing content from the Apple TV.

Infuse also includes an audio delay feature you can use to fine-tune things further. This can be found under the Audio section of the Playback Settings menu, while a video is playing.

Hmm… seems to be a pretty wide spread issue of enabling match frame rate causing audio delays, especially for users with HomePods. I’ve seen tons of threads on Reddit and other forums with the same issue and only thing that appears to work is disabling match frame rate.
I’m using an LG B2 OLED tv, so if you have any suggestions for settings to change- other wise I’ve tried just about everything and have resorted to disabling match frame rate.
This plays fine for pretty much every other app, but infuse does cause me issues unfortunately

What kind of audio delay do you experience with frame rate matching enabled? Is it constant or drifting? I have a very similar setup with a comparable TV, and I also use AirPlay for audio. I adjust the audio delay to 130ms, which keeps it in sync (I set it back to 0ms for AAC audio tracks). I’ve never even tried turning off frame rate matching.
