File not found on external drive

Hello. I am using Infuse on iOS devices to see video stored on 2 Macs and attached drives. When sharing from one Mac, I can access files on the Mac, and external drives and their contents. When sharing from the other Mac, I can access files on the Mac, and can see the external drive folder, but when selecting it I get an error message of “File/Folder not found”. Any ideas why?

Thanks much.

Just a guess but I’d look at the sharing permissions on the folder for the ID you’re using.

Thanks for the response. I was wondering if I should have put more info in the OP - on the Mac in question, home sharing is on, file sharing is on, and share SMB is on. On the external drive on that Mac, “shared folder” is checked (though the external on the other Mac does not have it checked, and can be read by Infuse). Still stumped. It’s possible I don’t know what you mean by the “folder for the ID” - I assumed it was about the internal drive on the Mac.

On the external drive if you do a “get info” at the bottom it will tell you who has rights to share. Make sure that the ID you’re using for Infuse has at least read privs.

Ok. Yes - Read & Write privileges are on.

Hi again. Still stumped. Any other possible fixes?

Hello again. Still can not access the one external drive via Infuse, and still would like to find out what the issue is.

Sounds like you don’t have the sharing permissions set on the external drives and folders.

Home sharing is on, file sharing is on, and share SMB is on. On the external drive on that Mac, “shared folder” is checked (though the external on the other Mac does not have it checked, and can be read by Infuse), and Read & Write privileges are on.

p.s. I had posted about this issue previously in the iPhone platform section, and you had come in to assist (thanks), but the issue persists.
