Are there known problems with Infuse family sharing using Trakt happening right now? Since the beginning of last weekend, the Apple TV used for family sharing always loses its Pro subscription unlock.
I did a lot of troubleshooting, but nothing seems to work long-term. I repeatedly tried deleting all registered sessions in my Trakt account and adding my devices back, but after a few hours to a day at most, the family-shared Apple TV always ends up showing the Pro subscription page asking to pay when starting a video.
It was working right before. Is it just an outage? When should we expect it to work again?
We’ve been dealing with this all weekend, it’s been more than a week now. We can’t get the family-shared device to keep its Pro unlock for more than a few hours.
I even tried activating a second device, a MacBook this time, to make sure the problem wasn’t specific to the Apple TV we’re using (I saw in the support article that the Trakt solution allows a maximum of 10 shared devices), and the same thing happened. After anywhere from a few hours to a day at most, the Pro license always gets deactivated.
There haven’t been any recent changes to Trakt sharing, so this may be related to something else.
Do you have at least one device that’s signed into both the App Store account used to purchase Infuse Pro and your Trakt account? That device needs to remain signed into both accounts and be used periodically for Trakt sharing to continue working.
Also, how many devices are you using Trakt sharing with?
Thanks! Yeah, I have an iPad, an iPhone, and a MacBook Pro logged into Trakt and into my personal Apple account. This Apple account is the one subscribed to Infuse Pro. Those devices are working perfectly.
As for shared devices using the Trakt account, the main one is the Apple TV in the living room that’s using a different Apple account than my personal one. And for the past few days, there’s also a MacBook Air that I used to troubleshoot the problem. So usually there’s only one device using Trakt sharing (the Apple TV), but for the past few days I’ve had two (the Apple TV and the aforementioned MacBook Air).
Before a week ago, everything was working as it should. As long as Infuse was used on one of my personal devices every few days the Infuse Pro license on the shared Apple TV stayed unlocked. But now the Pro license is always lost every few hours.
Just wanted to circle back to say the problem seems resolved. The shared devices haven’t lost their Pro license since Wednesday.
From the troubleshooting I did and my very black-box point of view of it all, it seems the problem was on Trakt’s side, but who knows.
I wish there were a better way for family sharing, Trakt really isn’t as solid as I would like. I heard Apple Family Sharing changed things and no longer requires family members to share a single credit card for purchases. So maybe I should try that instead.
