Hi, thank you for Extra Support, is great. I use Emby Server with Infuse and it’s ok but when I look at an extra via emby player it is marked as seen not with Infuse. I would like the extras to have the Orange corner when they are not seen like the movies… Maybe in the future version ? ![]()
Thanks for adding extras…fantastic long awaited feature. Unfortunately 8.4.1 has sort of broken my library:
I opened the app and after its normal scan of my SMB, I suddenly have 300+ new “movies”.
Infuse has now scanned (after previously ignoring) everything in a non-recognized extras folder as its own movie.
For example: I now have a “movie” called “Germán” with 3 versions of said “movie” because it found 3 files called “German Theatrical Trailer.mkv” in subfolders for each of the Dollars Trilogy featurettes folders.
The folder structure in most films with extras looks like:
/The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
The Darjeeling Limited (2007) Criterion (2160p UHD BluRay x265 10bit DV HDR DTS-HD MA 5.1)
/Featurettes
American Express commercial directed by Wes Anderson.mkv
Conversation between Wes Anderson and filmmaker James Ivory.mkv
…etc.
But some have subfolders that aren’t recognized extras types:
/A Fistful of Dollars (1964)
A Fistful of Dollars (1964) (2160p BluRay x265 10bit DV HDR).mkv
/Featurettes
/Alternate Credits Sequences
German Opening Credits.mkv
Italian Re-release Credits.mkv
Original English Credits.mkv
A Fistful of Outtakes.mkv
A Night at the Movies - Interview with Filmmaker Paolo Bianchini.mkv
Four Fingers Four Picks - Interview with Guitarist and Composer Bruno Battisti D’Amario.mkv
…etc.
Screenshot:
As you can see in the above, some featurettes folders are further divided.
Before 8.4 all of this was of course ignored. With 8.4, only the files in the top featurettes folder were picked up with the subfolders being ignored. With 8.4.1, everything is scanned and if it’s not in a recognized subfolder, Infuse tries to add it as a movie.
Can we have it so that any subfolder name within an “Extras” or “Featurettes” folder acts as a custom "extras type”? So that videos within “Alternate Credits Sequence” or “MGM Archive Extras” don’t get added as random “movies” picked from TMDB?
I’m a bit lost as to what to do in the meantime as I suddenly have 300+ extras showing up as “movies” mixed into my library. And I’d rather not think of the hours it would take to go through over 1500 movie folders (and dozens of TV series folders) to find the ones with unrecognized subfolders within the extras/featurettes. ![]()
The Extras feature seems to be working well.
I have a couple of movies that use the folder structure naming for Plex that are not appearing in Infuse. Any suggestions for troubleshooting that? I have tried removing the movie folder from Plex and re-adding it. That works sometimes, but not always.
Also, I have a few movies with multiple editions that have been separated in Plex. Those movies have trouble with the extras feature. Some have duplicates of the extra files and only appear in one of the editions, and some don’t appear at all. I am not sure what the best solution is. Both editions have the same extras or something else? Suggestion: It might solve itself if the editions feature was working. ![]()
I’m using Emby as a server and I’m really happy extras are now supported. For movies the extras show up in Infuse as expected but for seasons they do not. I have a “Specials” folder for each season with e.g. BTS stuff. In the Emby app they show up but in Infuse they do not. Am I don’t something wrong or a TV extras using Emby not supported (yet)?
I can’t figure out TV extras either. I’ve read the help document, but my extras in one case are not ‘S01E01-trailer’ , neither are they a ‘special’ really. They’re more show extras or sometimes season extras, but I just can’t get this to work. I’m using SMB with Infuse.
For what it is worth, I am so far not seeing any issues with serving Extras from a Plex server. I have a very happy wife now, so I am a happy man. ![]()
What does seem to work, however, is TV show scoped extras (placing all extras into /Special). But using this approach leads to chaos as all extras are in one place, meaning you get a list with e.g. 5 videos called “Deleted Scenes”.
I also use Emby. Seasonal extras don’t seem to work either. What works for me is to put all the extras of the episode in the episode folder. For example:
But an update would be welcome to support seasonal extras.
Wow, you actually introduced me to a feature I never even knew I needed. Episode based extras are amazing for show like Stranger Things 5 where each episode has a BTS. So, thanks ![]()
For now I’ll put season extras which do not belong to a specific episode into the last episode.
it’s a good idea.
Regarding (half) your second problem: I had as similar issue, whereby when two editions of the same movie were in a parent folder alongside extra folders, none of the extras would show up. The movies appear separately in Plex with the edition tag.
For example, with a Theatrical and Director’s Cut, the following structure made the extras appear below the Theatrical Cut.
- Parent folder
- Extra folders (Behind the Scenes, Deleted Scenes…)
- Director’s cut folder (with the edition tag in the folder)
- Director’s cut file (with the edition tag in the file name)
- Theatrical file
For your first problem, can you post the name / file path of the movies so we can try and troubleshoot (maybe in a dedicated thread) ? Some time ago I read about a “Plex dance” to get Plex to see a movie as “new”, maybe doing that + a rescan of your movies library on Plex + a refresh of Infuse (basically restarting the whole chain) would solve the problem (just spitballing here).
