Extra Features for Movies and TV Shows

+1,
Created account just to show support to the post.
Much needed feature.

now that the most liked feature has been fulfilled, can we see movement on this?

It’s insane how long it’s taking for this feature to be considered. For such a visible feature, I feel like it gives an insight into either how overworked the devs are, how bad product management is, or some other internal issue. In the time it’s taken for this feature request from first opening until now, another team could have built a full product!

The two main features missing are this and custom categories (eg keep music videos, personal videos, tutorials, and other non TV, non Movie video separate to)

IMHO, all of the above, my good sir. I’ve moved to plex a year ago and I don’t regret it. I only keep infuse when some files are not read properly on Plex, which can happens occasionally.

Maybe iCloud syncing works properly now, but I had issues with it for more than a year without having received a proper solution to fix it. It’s what prompted me to make the switch.

The best thing to do here is to use MKVToolNix to merge all your parted files into one. Happens fast and you only need do it once. Who wants to deal with multiple parts, anyway? The original reasons for parting such content have long since been obsolete.

Documentaries that are actual movies and TV shows (per TMDB) are categorized with the appropriate genre tags under Movies or TV for easy access. Anime is supported by TMDB and can be found in the TMDB/Infuse genre: Animation. Infuse users can overwrite TMDB’s official genres with custom ones (such as “Anime”) via .nfo files, for all movie content that is indexed by TMDB.

Documentaries that only exist as DVD or Web extras are not supported by TMDB, as everyone in this thread is painfully aware. But, workarounds exist (see below).

Personal movies aren’t supported by TMDB, either — nor are live sporting events — so for these (and Extras content), I’d recommend putting them into folders on your server’s share alongside your main “Movies” and “TV” folders, and adding favorites to those folders to Infuse’s Home Screen (I have ones for “Formula 1” and “Movie & TV Extras”).

As long as you exclude those new folders from Infuse’s Library, they won’t clutter up your Movies and TV libraries, and won’t show up in the “Other” Category — which is really only a catchall for non-TMDB-identified titles IN your Infuse library to let you know a scraping failure occurred.

This non-indexed content can still be browsed and played via Infuses’s folder navigator interface. Until Firecore adds support for extras on movie and TV details pages, this is the best workaround I’ve found. You can even add custom folder images to each folder and poster images alongside each video file to tell all your extras content items apart.

And yet, no one else has filled the void and stepped up to create such software; including all Infuse users’ long-desired basic UI features combined with Infuse’s unquestionably superior playback performance, no matter the media’s encoding type or file location; be it local to their device or network, or somewhere out in the intertubes :man_shrugging:t2:. I’m still waiting for one of these other teams to release the mythical Infuse killer, but until they do, Infuse stands alone at the top - painfully long-standing UI omissions and all.

But to each their own.

Thank you for the suggestions on categorization - I’ll spend some more time experimenting vs complaining

Totally agree - personally i’m bought into infuse.

While I do agree in principles, I don’t in the form.

Not everyone has the time nor the competency to use the methods you suggested.

I use MKVtools to get rid of or create my own metadata, but even though I read the support of MKVmerge, it eludes me. They could be speaking Japanese for all I care. It just is not that simple (for me).

And the NFO file is about the same vein.

Getting an easy and aesthetic way of viewing ripped movie or tv show extras within the movie/tv show detail page? This has been requested for many years. I would love some feedback from James.

Paying user for multiple years here – would love to have this added. I have my ripped Blu-Rays with lots of extra features that just sit on my hard drive and are not easily viewable through Infuse to my knowledge. +1!

Don’t forget that you need to click the like button on the first post in this thread to show your support for this suggestion!

I am a new Infuse user who also created an account just to show support for this feature that I was very surprised to see was not already available

Channels DVR added support for extras today in beta. Hopefully it finally comes to Infuse soon, too.

James, can we get any kind of update if this long requested feature is going to be considered?

Are you ever going to seriously consider having a beautiful and organized way of having movie and tv shows extra to be incorporated? I know this feature has loads of votes and discussed on the message board, but it never seems to get any discussion or momentum from you. I am respectful that this is your program but I think the customer base would love to know if this is ever going to be really considered and what may be holding this feature up at this time.

It can start in a simple form mate. Doesn’t need to encompass every single thing in its first iteration. I’m sure many of us would appreciate at least something in the direction of enabling such a feature. It can be perfected over time.

Again… keeping it simple to begin with—

But it is not that simple. I don’t have an “Extras” folder, and I will not be making one, as I have everything sorted into multiple folders based on Plex’s naming conventions. And other people will also have it differnetly. Just because one thing works for you, doesn’t mean it works for the remainder of people in here.

Agreed. Not everyone is on the same page. But since I am following one of the methods recommended by Infuse itself, I don’t think I am the only one in that boat. Also, I am in no way saying that development of this feature should ignore some and cater to only a few. All I am saying is start… somewhere.

Again, I acknowledge that creating and deploying a feature is not as simple as the flowchart I created, and I value the time and effort the developers put in towards giving us a great viewing experience, but if it helps pave the way to a brainstorming session amongst the devs towards at least thinking of a solution, if not the solution… please allow me that wishful thinking.

I get you! I just think that from Firecores POV, they’d rather want to deliver something concrete and not yet another band-aid solution, since this is one of the most requested features. If not, they’ll still get an unending amount of whining, as we tend do in here, making such a release a bit pointless.
