Just getting into using Infuse, and this would really help as I start the process
Don’t forget that you need to click the like button on the first post in this thread to show your support for this suggestion! ![]()
you’ve said this exact sentence dozens of times over many years, its clear our support for this “suggestion” which imo should have been a staple feature in 1.0, is being ignored for vision pro and other niche nonsense. What will it take to get this done for all these paying customers?
It’s a bot. Has to be.
Updating screenshots based on my original suggestion, with new UI in the hope that it will inspire… well… someone, somewhere, sometime.
- Title Page—
(Watched/Unwatched button moved up.) - Extra’s Listing—
- Nested Folder View—
I wonder which will happen first though… Apple enabling passthrough, or this feature getting implemented. Ha!
Posts that go against the forum FAQ will be deleted.
Calling you a bot doesn’t go against the forum FAQ? In which way are my comments different from the one from bazinki?
At some point the developer becomes a greater impediment than Apple. But it’s their app and they already got our money—we forfeited the right to vote with our wallets. If they wanna develop the app out more for the 6 people with Vision Pro headsets then that’s their prerogative.
I still use Infuse when I have no other choice even though it makes a mess of my library (multiple versions… oof). I’ve moved over to Kodi for my home theater using the AMb6+ which is superior in every way to any other streaming device on the market right now. Way more customizable and has all the features Infuse and the Apple TV 4K are collectively missing.
Yep same here! Running AM6B+ with Plex Mod for Kodi add on installed. Truly a dream home theatre player for me as my media is sourced from blu ray and UHD blu ray. Full Dolby Vision support (including Profile 7 FEL) full lossless audio support and of course extras with Plex.
I will say that the Plex app on ATV4K is starting to catch up to Infuse in the playback department as well. I have it in a different family room and it no longer drops frames or stutters during playback and doesn’t trigger fake DV anymore. Only thing it doesn’t do as well as Infuse is direct play TrueHD audio (although in the betas I heard it does).
I think Infuse dropped the ball a bit by not adding Extras and multi-user support. Awesome app for sure but some key things are missing especially those with large families who want to have separate users for watch history etc.
So the Plex client has FINALLY caught up playback wise? Very interesting. I will definitely give it a go again then. Its horrific playback backend was the reason I was happy to jump on Infuse.
I wish there were more options like Infuse. I pretty much just want a player that presents a pretty front-end for my files. I could set up a media server, but I really just don’t need all the features but would still have to pay fees for some of the things I do want. Infuse’s basic functionality is exactly what I want, but it’s just missing so many QOL features. Features like access to extras, basic sorting, parental controls that work for all my content, etc. The new version is a bit more snappy, but other than that really didn’t deliver anything I care about. So I use VLC to watch my extras. If VLC had a way to make a pretty front end for my files I would probably just use that.
I know this topic fails to get much attention or response from the developer and just doesn’t feel that he has much desire to incorporate it. Do we ever see work or a goal to have a way to incorporate bonus features/extras in an easy way with movies and tv shows? I know I speak for others that have posted how this is a much desired feature. I keep wondering because I am not sure if I want to keep my subscription when this feature has been suggested for many years to no avail.
You may want to add your support to this by clicking the like button in the first post. That is how the dev tracks the number of users adding their support to this request. The forum has tools available to tally the likes on the original post so that really helps determine support.
No offense but that never helps and is not really the response I was hoping for. I just want some clarity from the developer who never tends to respond to this request and topic. It would be nice to get some actual feedback or response.
This is still an interesting feature we’d like to add, but as of right now there there isn’t an ETA on when it may land.
Thank you James. Is this a feature that would be difficult from a developer’s perspective to add to the program?
It’s had the “planned” tag for somewhere between 1.5 and 3 years, according to posts above…
I’d just like to note that when sorting open threads on this forum by total number of posts, you can see that the only current topics more popular than this are around Dolby support.
So thanks for your acknowledgement James, but I hope you all can recognize that this is clearly a #1 feature request from a lot of people. And when NC_Bullseye asks us to click the like button, it really feels like “corporate speak”. It’s already obvious enough that there is massive demand for this, no more “likes” are needed.
It really would be great for some further acknowledgement that this is an actual priority, planned for the next minor release or whatever. Because like others, I’m wondering if I should switch to a different player that is building the features users actually want.
Like, I understand that building Infuse for the Vision Pro was probably a fun technical project and you thought it was strategically important to get in on the ground floor. But now that we see that Vision Pro usage is miniscule, it really would be great to hear you acknowledge the priority of this particular user feature from existing paid customers, and say that it’s next on your list.
Thanks James!
Crazyhorse: I am really close to giving up on this feature for Infuse and giving up my subscription. It doesn’t ever gain any traction for whatever reason with James or Bullseye. When you see the upcoming feature thread, it is never seem to be there. I want to be respectful of James because it is his program and maybe (1) a difficult implementation or (2) not really a high priority for him which is his right as the creator. However, with it implemented at different ways within Plex, Emby and Jellyfin, in my opinion it really misses the mark of not being a higher priority within Infuse. Just my two cents ![]()
It did for a loooong time. But the ‘upcoming features’ list also had several other things that kept being pushed again, and again, so at some point Firecore decided to shorten it to features that they actually did plan to introduce in the relative short term, and not just have it as a bucket list of ‘nice to have’ things. Which I fully understand.
“Interesting” doesn’t really communicate the right priority for a feature which has been front and centre of the suggestion threads for more than 7 years now. Please put this higher up your priorities. I have been a subscriber for 4 years now, but I am becoming frustrated with the development path.
Infuse may have begun as an “interesting” project which could be maintained in a perfunctory and amateurish way, but as soon as you invited subscriptions, the project became a business enterprise which demands a greater respect and better consultation with those of us who give you money which should go to enhancing the customer experience.
The Apple Vision Pro development was a waste of time and effort chasing a non-existent user-base on a platform which at its price-point was never going to enter the mainstream. You do not need to be ‘ahead of the curve’ you should be addressing the suggestions of those of us who have been loyal and faithful subscribers.
Please treat us with care, dignity and respect. We don’t ask for much, so don’t ignore us - try and engage with us instead.
I shall dismount my high-horse now.
