Ok, I’m losing my mind. I’ve got my blobs saved for the n-1 release and I can succesfully do a restore/update to the current apple version without issues. This is on a laptop (it bombs with error 1600 on mine). I can do this with either just the USB or USB+ Power.
However if I try and restore the n-1 version using the latest Seasonpass and iReb/Snowbreeze (with tinyumbrella TSS running) it fails with error 1600 on the firmware restore (near to last step). The device seems to be permanently in DFU after these attempts and iReb and Seasonpass see it in DFU mode and can seemingly dump their exploit).
I’ve tried restore/update to the latest versions and a clean run through on Seasonpass from the IPSW creation (it’s the right size) and I stil get error 1600. Doing restore/update to the latest and iReb and then Snowbreeze firmware (Correct size) also gives me error 1600.
All attempts are done with USB only, though I’ve tried with power and it makes no difference.
Tinyumbrella see it’s a DFU device (and then recovery device as it restores) and the TSS server is doing the trick.
I’ve tried checking that perhaps the restore was valid after each attempt but it doesn’t boot. The LED is blinking (not rapidly) and the remote seems to work (I can do the menu/arrow reboot) but nothing shows on the TV.
Has anyone got any ideas?
I’m going to try another PC, but I assume cable/PC are ok if I can restore/update to the latest version reliably.
Thanks
Choppedfish.
New idea…I realized that using iReb or seasonpass to slip in the “crack” after DFU wouldn’t work with 8F455 since there is no crack, so the plan is to restore 8F455 (done), restore 8F305, crack that then restore my custom firmware.
I’m reasonably sure this ought to work. Anyone care to comment?
The only concern is that restore/upgrade to 8F455 is a bit random since the apple verification doesn’t always work. I suspect if I save the blob for it, then it should be more reliable.
Thanks

It’s solved… I tried restoring 8F455 again on the laptop where it worked and I kept getting 3194 failures, I then tried again on another laptop and kept getting 1600 and 3914 errors. All very odd. I could switch between DFU and recovery mode but this made no difference.
When restore 8F455 I had Tinyumbrella (TU) off, but it still failed, so following the advice of some others I went and bought a new cable since some people suggested this for 1600 errors. I got an initial failure on 8F455 because I had TU running. Oddly enough TU wouldn’t save the SHSH for 8F455. Turn off TU and changing ports on the laptop and the new cable and restore worked straightaway. I then tried 8F305 with TU running and it failed. I decide to turn of TU and it seems apple is still signing 8F305 even though us TU for this vs apple should in theory be identical. Doing that worked. I then use iReb to do it’s L1mera thing and voila I could restore the custom firmware.
So the answer I think is a combination of the cable (#1) and TU being off. I’m still not sure why TU would cause such issues, unless my method of moving the blobs between systems is flawed. Even saving the SHSH on the laptop for 8F305 didn’t seem to work.
So 3 days of frustration are at an end and I have 2 jail broken ATV2s. The first one I did 5 days ago an it was a breeze. The only issue here was having the power in when I shouldn’t have. The cable (cheap) must have got worse and the occasional succesful 8F455 was a matter of luck.
