Enhanced Video Titles when opened via another app

Since Infuse already knows the correct title of the movie/show episode, especially with the recent x-callback enhancements. Could the title and subtitle of the video be updated to show the actual correct metadata instead of what is passed through the filename param? It’s already shown correctly in the box when you hit the down button on the ATV remote, so I believe it should be possible to show it on the titles as well. Just makes it look even more seamless when playing from an external app.

Can you describe (or share a few images) of the areas in Infuse where you would like to see things handled differently?

Of course, sorry about that.

When opening a video via an external app, this is how it looks like on tvOS. The title shows correctly in the top box but not at the bottom. The title at the bottom of the screen (second image) just uses the filename or the param passed in the filename.

And this is how it looks if the video was opened directly in Infuse. The title at the bottom is also now matching the metadata.

As you can see, it correctly displays the season, episode and episode name in the format Infuse uses. It would be nice if we could have the bottom title show this way in both cases! Looks much more nicer and seamless.

Just want to add that I’m seeing the same thing on iOS, not just tvOS. It happens with movies too, not only shows.

A couple of observations that might help narrow it down:

  • The player itself seems to have the correct metadata, only the bottom title is not updated. So it doesn’t look like a metadata lookup/match problem.
  • If I background the app and return to it while the video is still playing, the bottom title updates to the correct format.

That backgrounding behavior makes me think it’s a UI state/refresh issue on the initial external launch rather than missing metadata. Hope this helps.

Thank you, and yes you are correct. It’s the same behavior on tvOS too. If I minimize the app and then reopen it right away, the titles are correctly displayed (as in my third image).
