So I don’t know how to say this but downmixing is a massive let down.
Most of all: normalization doesn’t work or is impossible to configure universally.
Will this ever be addressed or improved?! (this is a2 year old issue)
In my ATV settings I have reduce loud sounds and enhanced dialogue: off. In Infuse I have downmix: normalized, LFE :on, volume boost: 200%, dolby atmos: off.
But the experience is almost laughable. For example in Dangerous Animals (2025) at around 3:30 minutes in, the dialogue on the pier is normal(ish) and then immediately when we change to the scene on the water the SFXs are so loud the tv almost falls from our stands. There is absolutely no normalization happening here. The audio track is E-AC3 5.1.
