Downloads on devices 1:1 copies or compressed?

Dear Community,

Are all downloaded movies from my NAS to my iPhone/iPad compressed or plain 1:1 copies (I’m currently not at Home to Test it myself).
The reason for my question is, that a few of my files are in 4K Resolution with file sizes of about 40-60GB each.
