I’m pretty new to Infuse. So far its so much better than my old solution.
So on my main living room tv, I set up my new NAS then loaded all the content into infuse (tv shows and movies). Ran into a few issues but it for the most part works.
I then got another apple tv box for my bedroom and installed infuse there and once again loaded all the content.
Now on both tv’s I get double folders (TV shows, Movies, Other). What is interesting is the first TV folder has everything while the second one appears to but much of the artwork is blank. Is there a way to get the size of these folders?
How can i get rid of these duplicates? I know i can hide them, but my fear is i’m using twice the space.
Oh and the other original issue is one of my BIGGEST tv shows is broken down into individual files and not a folder for that tv show. I suspect its due to IMDB so I will have rename the show name to be the exact title (Dr who (1963) vs Dr Who (2005)
I’m guessing you might have installed Infuse on the second TV and then actually gone in and added the NAS share on the second ATV. After you did that the second ATV did a sync and saw where your other ATV had that NAS as a share and added it too.
Best thing to do is delete Infuse on the second ATV and then redownload Infuse. Launch it and don’t add anything, just go to the Library settings screen and it should say syncing with iCloud or something to that affect. Just let it finish and it should not have duplicates anymore.
We can work on your Dr Who issue if you can provide a screen cap of how you have the directory structure and file names for that series.
Thanks @NC_Bullseye Yeah I think thats why I did on the bedroom tv for sure. So if I wipe Infuse on the bedroom and reinstall and do as you say - will the living room tv be ok or do I need to do the same thing
For Dr who i’m Not sure if you know about that show. But each “incarnation” of the dr starts new seasons. So I set it up as:
Dr Who #1 and then under that Season 1,2,3 etc and then the file name Dr Who #1 1x01 pilot.mkv
A similar issue happened with the outer limits. All the art work and descriptions were for the 1995 remake and mine were 1960. I just renamed the folder to be The other limits 1965 - for all of them and boom it worked. I have WAY too many Dr who episodes. . When i can dedicate some time I will try it out (maybe 1 dr at a time). But first I want to clean up the double folders
hopefully this screen shot helps. The first few dr’s were you unique. Each episode was broke down to several mini series - all the same title but then part 1,2,3 etc
yup, the living room should be fine after the icloud sync. It should see the right amount of shares.
As to Dr Who, since Infuse uses TMDB for metadata you’ll need to follow the series and episode guides on TMDB to get things right. They’ve got it nailed down pretty good.
@NC_Bullseye I removed Infuse from the app store on my bedroom TV. I launched and went into library. There is a sync with iCloud, but nothing happened (Is this Apple I cloud - if so i’m not using it). I selected scan for changes which will take a while
I did as you suggested - deleted Infuse completely. I reinstalled it and from the last screen shot clicked sync changes. It has completed and i still have duplicate folders. I know I can hide them. But are they taking up twice the space? (I have a LOT of content and cant afford to lose disk space)
Yes, it’s iCloud and if you’re not using iCloud it’s not going to be able to sync with other devices.
You don’t need to click anything if you deleted it and then just restarted and went to library it should start syncing without you clicking anything but that’s also based on icloud.
All my content is on a NAS. I have 3.5 TB of content - hence why no iCloud. Heck I didn’t even know I could. From the screenshot I sent, what should I have clicked - that was what I saw after I deleted the app launched and went into Infuse.
I apologize if i’m missing something basic, but do appreciate your help
Thanks @NC_Bullseye I just checked and Icloud sync was already enabled along with auto backup. I was going to say it never asked for my iCloud account but then realized i’m probably logged in via apple ID to download Infuse
I’m on the free version, would the premium get me anything
Also I dont mind wiping out Infuse and starting over. IF I do, what did I do wrong before based on the screenshot I sent. Also from my screenshot it did an iCloud sync when I reinstalled and launched. What could i/should i do differently?
It takes the pro version to keep things synced with other devices. Along with that there are many other features that make things a much better experience.
Scroll down to where it details the pro features.
I guess I should also say that with the pro version you would be supporting the developer and helping support this forum and all the fixes and updates that Infuse gets.
THanks, again much appreciated. I’m NEW to this and still learning
I submitted a support ticket over the weekend but no one has responded yet. Would premier access get me better support too. The pricing looks really low so I may do that.
Still trying to figure out my original double folders issue. Driving me nuts
By chance did you log into the NAS on each device individually? Infuse will use iCloud to sync the NAS details between your devices, so it’s possible the connection was added twice which would cause duplicates.
You can check this in the Infuse > Settings > Library menu to see if there are duplicate entries listed there.
I checked what was recommended but didn’t see any dupes. Took a screenshot for him. Also my biggest concern is double folders and files means wasted disk space. If support can verify this is not the case, then i will just hide or delete those other folders
Just keeping you up to speed since you have been so helpful.
Another duplicate issue came up. I recently uploaded some new content to a tv show folder. it played fine. But now I notice one episode in that season is duplicated. I removed it from the NAS and did another scan, but it’s still there.
What you see on the home screen are two ways to browse your videos.
The Pink icon is the Infuse library, and this will provide a rich experience with artwork. The orange icon is your TV Shows folder, which some people prefer to use for browsing.
If you want to hide one of these items you can long-press on it and select the ‘Hide Favorite’ option. Having both present does not affect storage space on your device.
Thats great.. I cannot be sure but I could have sworn there was only 1 of each when first installed. I dont agree that there should be 2 folders either. Finally my individual duplicated episode was not answered.
