When starting Dolby Vision Profile 8.1 MKVs (dvhe.08.06) in Infuse on my MacBook Air M2, initial video playback variously shows a pixelated yellow flash, black frames, a stalled picture, or a brief jump backwards followed by a stall. Audio is unaffected, and normal video playback begins after five seconds.
Additionally, the picture also usually stalls for a few seconds when I drag the timeline backwards or forwards.
These same files play without issue in Infuse on my iPhone and MPC-HC on Windows.
A complete FFmpeg decode and dovi_tool validation of a representative sample episode found no video, timestamp, or RPU errors.
macOS: 26.5.1
Infuse: 8.5
As suggested in previous threads, disabling Dolby Vision prevents the issue, but this isn’t really an ideal long-term solution.
