Hello James, I noticed that infuse seems to be playing some of the latest dolby vision files in .ts format that are supposed to be single layer dolby vision as only HDR. I have an LG OLED c9 and the TV’s player can detect the dolby vision format but not infuse with the apple TV4k. Any thoughts? Th…

Watching blu-rays in HDR10 on the ATV is further from reality than DV because of the broken HDR10 metadata and because colorists manually trim the dynamic tonemapping for different displays. If you don’t have a problem with broken downgrade HDR, forcing DV mode for non-DV content is the same thing. …

[image] nekno: So you want to use dovi_tool to extract the RPU (not convert it to a BL+RPU stream or demux it to an EL+RPU stream) and convert it to DV8.1. That’s what I do, sir. [image] nekno: You also want to make sure you’re using the latest version of dovi_tool (v1.6.0 or later) H…

[image] vidya146: broken HDR10 metadata You mean the HDR10 metadata is broken when ripping the UHD blu-ray with MakeMKV?

The ATV sends out incorrect metadata values for most movies.

Can that be helped with the “forced” option?

@Videoman There is the following ongoing thread about this ( and possibly others): [image] HDR metadata not correct, replaced by standard values Apple TV The metadata for (as it seems) all HDR10 content played on Infuse is replaced with BT.2020 Mastering Display Color Pri…

I think I may have found the right workflow to get HandBrake compressed files to show as Dolby Vision (in auto mode) in Infuse now. I’ll report back a little later.

Hi nekno, just to be clear, you’re saying any FEL profile 7 → profile 8.1 conversions done with older versions of Dovi_Tool could have incorrect colours? So they should be redone with the latest version? Did this also affect conversions made from MEL profile 7 or profile 5 sources?

[image] nekno: You also want to make sure you’re using the latest version of dovi_tool (v1.6.0 or later) when you use mode 2 to convert to DV8.1 and your source is FEL DV7, because that version now removes some tone mapping that will be applied twice if you use an earlier version of dovi_tool. …

Oops! Thanks for this. I wasn’t tracking the commits into releases, I just looked at the updates to the readme and saw the latest version number for a release. Bad assumption!
